About You
This spring insight programme was completed during Covid-19 and therefore, was delivered virtually. Despite the virtual aspect, I really thought the recruiters put a lot of effort into the few days and I definitely learnt a lot. I did feel however, it lacked personal engagement. We were never given a list of other participants names to connect with or reach out to, which would have been very beneficial. We didn’t get the chance to perform any case studies or practical work, which could have been remotely and would have been far more insightful. All the same, I enjoyed the week and did learn a great deal.
I did feel somewhat valued, they made sure we all had a chance to ask questions. But down to the circumstances it was a slightly impersonal seeing as we couldn’t speak to people or converse with them freely without the pressure of time. It would have been difficult to be made feel included given the situation.
I didn’t feel like we received a massive amount of contact from the employees or speakers during the week. We didn’t get to really engage much with them and we didn’t get much of an opportunity to ask for support or follow up after the week was over. We did get an overview before the week which gave some amount of guidance.
I didn’t develop many skills throughout this week, as it was predominantly listening based.. however I did in fact learn a great deal of information regarding my college degree and the financial markets in general and it will undoubtably be a massive help to me in the future in this industry.
The Company
The week was structured very well. It was ran without any major issues and it went very smoothly along with the schedule. The speakers spent more than a generous amount of time with us and always allowed for questions after their talk. It ran seamlessly from start to finish, and I can’t fault the recruiters whatsoever.
I did have fun, but again I was on my own in my study while taking part. This wasn’t down to Morgan Stanley or it’s employees whatsoever, it was just the circumstances we were under. I thought all the speakers and recruiters were so lovely and friendly and they really made the atmosphere of the week as best as possible.
We received no prior training but we were provided with an app that had a lot of information and general knowledge on the industry which was really helpful and clear and I learnt a great deal from it that I’ll have forever.
In ways yes, the speakers gave a really in depth insight of what their day to day and I got to see what it would be like to work there .
They all seemed to really enjoy their job and emphasised how important a healthy culture was at the centre of Morgan Stanley and It’s employees
It was valuable to a certain extend in a way that I have chosen what section or departments within an investment bank that I don’t think I would like to work in, which is half the battle .
Everything Else
I was meant to be flying from cork to London for which morgan Stanley reimbursed the cost of.
Due to the circumstances, we didn’t get to talk one on one or even I’m smaller groups to individuals of the company, but we did get to ask questions.
Non- applicable. We didn’t get to talk to employees individually due to it being a virtual session.
We were not really told about employees hobbies but I think that May have been due to the fact that they were on a tight schedule and wanted to give us the most info. About their role first.
Absolutely, we were unlucky with the timing of it, but I have nothing bad whatsoever to say about how morgan stanley ran the programme. They did the best they could given the difficult situation, and I really enjoyed learning about the industry and what life at Morgan Stanley would be like.
