    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight week was fantastic with lots of talks from different individuals about different areas of the company. The question and answer sessions were super fun and interactive; they were great! • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued and respected throughout; which is a due to the superb efforts of the HR team that kept me up to date at all times with regular emails about the schedule and during the event. We were allowed to ask questions directly to managing directors which was brilliant.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given fantastic amounts of guidance thought out the process on how the firm operates and how interviews for summer internships are conducted; it was a super helpful insight on how to answer interview questions and how to think analytically. Guidance about how the spring week was going to be run was equally as clear.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A pen and paper programming session was really well planned and executed; given the nature of the task it will help me at university given I am a computer science student and have to grow increasing comfortable with writing code on a piece of paper. This was a great exercise.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was magnificently well organised with detailed yet concise talks that concluded in the designated time slots; with time left to answer questions. The talks were ordered by different areas of internship schemes which is super helpful for the future. Were also given breaks between talks which was nice .

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Atmosphere was fun and exciting all the participants were motivated to get going and to ask questions and so were the Morgan Stanley employees to provide talks and diligently answer our questions. They were brilliant. The atmosphere also extended past the experience as I am now still in contact with many of the participants.

  • The company invested a lot of time in personal training and this was evident with a very well planned talk about networking within the industry to professionally acquire friends and also how the use of LinkedIn can help this process due to the nature of the platform. • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I was given the opportunity throughout the insight program to ask questions to anyone about anything to do with their role; this was helpful as it allowed participants to really delve into the everyday working routine and tasks of people just starting with firm and those that have been there for some time.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Speaking with executive, managing directors and technical analysts provided a wide array of insight into how the 'ladder' within the firm is structured and how people can progress from one stage/ area of work to the other and what responsibilities it entails. The insight explicitly entailed that the firm is proud to hire all people from all walks of life.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Since it is only a spring week I was not paid but all expenses were covered such as train costs to get to the offices and accommodation during the week in Canary Wharf. Due to the pandemic however the program was moved to a virtual setting but if tickets were already booked expenses were still settled.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Well planned out given the virtual setting; There were not barriers in regards to who we could ask questions to which was great since it gave us the freedom to ask questions that were meaningful and participants got the most out of. Networking was also covered in a talk so we knew how to do it.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We were made aware of activities within the firm that are available but not so much outside the firm since this did not seem relevant; however a lot of networking was made clear that it did not strictly fall under 'work' and rather an act of reaching out to people in your free time.
