    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • SAP is the ideal company for a placement! Allowing each individual, regardless of which department they work for, to grow an develop skills in any other area they want to. There are constant opportunities being offered through out the 13 months, each one offering different skills to improve on. Every door is open and you will gain the confidence to take on these challenging and rewarding opportunities.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Working hard at SAP will get you recognized and will be valued, the majority of the time. The opportunists offered during the 13 months are a chance for you to stand out and show off your skills as well as develop in them. Being rewarded for this does allow you to feel valued within the company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Reaching out to different managers and supervisors to get the guidance and support you need may seem overwhelming at the start however once you cross this stage, and you will, there isn't anything that will stop you getting the guidance you need. As interns we are inclined to learn and develop so that we can make as much difference as possible, therefore support is always given.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • You create your days. Of course you will be given standard roles and responsibilities from when you start however the rest of the time you have can be distributed in many different ways. This could be learning new areas of your department and taking on more challenging tasks daily or getting involved in projects, which could last months, with other departments or the intern community.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Developing the skills needed to take on more challenging tasks within your department and proving that you are capable will lead to an increase in responsibilities. Taking on larger projects alongside this will increase your responsibility even more and therefore it will all depend on how mcuh you are willing to do.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • SAP is a multinational corporation, simply just being in this environment everyday for year, interacting with seniors/management teams, being involved in meetings/presentations and working on the worlds largest companies speaks for itself. You have to gain the right skills to succeeded in this environment and with the support you are given and the role models you work with, there is no doubt that you will gain the skills need for your future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very comforting and professional. Free lunch and coffee everyday keeps you motivated. The marketing team loves to spoil the workers by constantly having something new going on every day to keep you going. There is open work spaces to go to, if you feel like you need a little change.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From the day you start you spend the first month with the previous intern allowing them to divert on there knowledge onto you. You are then invited to a range of presentations and training's to help develop skills to support you in your role, this sort of set up is consistent through out the 13 months and is very organised with emails and calendar invites being sent out regularly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

We are given opportunists to go to customer meetings and presentations which may require some sort of travel, this will all be expensed. Interns also get invited to large events and training's to help increase there knowledge in functions areas.

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are only handful of roles that seem possible to get after graduating within the company and with the huge intake of interns each year it comes across as quite difficult to get back in. However it is a fantastic company that does look after the employees and to gain employment there would be a great opportunity.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The office has a games room and a gym on the first floor. This is a place for interns to chill out and spend time together during breaks and lunch time. Having a dedicated location for people to spend time together away from work always people to socialise in other aspects.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area where the offices are located is quite expensive (London) however as the main office is not central there are cheaper locations (Hounslow, Kingston) if you are looking to live away from home. The free lunch and free gym, in the office, saves interns some costs that would incur during a placement year.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The main office is 30 min away from London and of course there is no better night life. Socials are organised both by the intern community and within your department teams. These range from nights out in clubs/bars, dinners with teams and friends. If your lucky you may even be taking abroad!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are several opportunists to get involved in. for example every Monday there is football organised by SAP. This allows you to meet new people and even develop skills in this sport. There is also the office gym which comes with a range of classes and recommendations to suit you.
