    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship immensely. I was given an insight into the life cycle of recruitment. This was extremely valuable to me as it enabled me to see what a day to day would be like in the recruitment world. I was met with open and honest permanent employees who were very welcoming to me and on hand to help.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel particularly valued by my colleagues. From the outset they made me feel like part of the team and was never made to feel unwelcome . This went a long way in making me feel comfortable in my role within the company. I was introduced to everyone and I was aware that I could ask any member of the team for help and I was made to feel comfortable enough to do so.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a very high degree of support by not only management but the whole team. In particular my manager was always on hand to answer all my questions, teach me the different aspects of the role and mentor me in all areas of the business. This really was invaluable and a huge part of the reason I enjoyed my internship so much

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As the internship progressed I became busier and busier. This was exciting for me as I love to be kept busy and it meant that I was able to learn a vast amount in a short time. The team allowed me to shadow them which was key to learning. This kept me busy considering they are always very busy. The fact that they made time for me in their busy days is a testament to how accommodating the team were to me.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As time went on in my internship I was given more and more responsibility. This increase in responsibility helped to build my confidence as it showed a level of trust between my manager and myself. This also meant that I was learning by doing and this was a great help to me. Throughout this increased responsibility I was always aware that I had the support of the team and particularly my manager to ask questions and clarify procedures.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I have developed and the training I have received will assist me greatly in the next step of my career. I have been given a crash course in recruitment and I can continue to build on those foundations and hone my skills day by day. This internship has been a huge learning curve and confidence builder for me, not least due to the support of my manager and the team in its entirety.
