  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience I had with SLV helped me gain confidence and build upon important skills such as leadership, communication and being able to work in a large team as well as individually. • The general atmosphere was very positive and engaging. The staff were always encouraging us to take part in activities and were supportive and understanding of our needs. • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This was an incredible experience which took place during the first week of placement. During this time, we all grew a great bond with one another and took part in challenging and empowering activities that was a good mixture of fun and problem-solving. The SLV team had invested plenty of time into this aspect and ensured all volunteers were taking part, were safe and comfortable during the whole process.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The team were wonderful with describing their roles and commitments with SLV. It was interesting to understand how proactive their role required them to be and how committed they all were. At certain times, I would have one to one conversations with the team members to understand their role a bit better and in more detail and got to know more information about their involvement with SLV

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Their work and communication itself displayed wonderful culture. Each team member were great role models for the volunteers as we learned so much through simply observing their warm nature and their way of communicating with the locals, Balinese team and the homestay families. This in turn helped me understand the colorful nature of SLV
