    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight very much. It was well organised and full of interactive sessions on the different aspects of Teach First as a company, as well as teaching as a career.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Teach First during both the insight, and the application process made me feel very valued. They supported us throughout the application process, and made sure there were follow up calls after the insight as well. During the insight, they made me feel valued as a potential employee instead of just treating me as a statistic.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • They excel in making sure that the participants received guidance and support throughout the insight, and that that avenues of communication were open to us should we have questions or concerns.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Teaching did not necessarily have that much to do with my degree. However, the skills we developed such as debating, and communication, coming up with innovative ideas, are all useful in any situation.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. We were all given the schedule beforehand and it was followed like clockwork. Everyone knew where they were supposed to be and what we were supposed to be doing. It was very well organised.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a very positive and optimistic atmosphere during the insight. There was a sense of energy, and everyone was excited to be there, learn about how to get into teaching, and discuss how educational inequality could be addressed.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel like Teach First, as a company, very much invests in the participants of their programmes. They offered a lot of support and guidance, and informed us of further opportunities. They also kept in contact after the experience with follow up calls to discuss further opportunities.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me to understand what a full time role would involve theoretically. They did do some practical work in allowing us to teach actual lessons to schoolchildren, but this was minimal, and I feel that more practical work would have been beneficial.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight revealed a lot about the company culture, and I feel that it had a very positive impression.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • At first, I was not really considering teaching as a career path, but after the insight, I felt that this could perhaps be something that I could actually go into. It was very valuable in terms of letting me understand what teaching was actually like.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As this was only a two day insight, we were not paid. However, our travel expenses were reimbursed. For people living outside of London, Teach First arranged accommodation for them.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were definitely lots of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. Quite a lot of the schedule was devoted to networking fairs to find about the job from previous applicants, as well as finding out about further opportunities with the company

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I feel that while the networking events involved a very diverse range of people and opportunities to discuss, I feel that with the large amount of people there, more time should have been devoted to this.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Teach First were very comprehensive in making sure we were informed about this, and made sure that there was still an outreach employee that we could contact once we finished the insight.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to anyone who is interested not just in teaching, but in learning skills that would be useful for any working environment. A lot of the skills that were taught were transferable skills that would be useful to any profession. I feel that the insight was very informative, well organised, and most of all, fun!
