    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy my placement but I would say this was because I was at a airport location, I was given more opportunity to progress, I passed my management qualification interview and I made so many friends and had a great time, but I am also able to see the business from both sides, the hours are long at least 10 hour days, it is very customer service and sales driven, being no good at sales just isn't acceptable, each day is repetitive and it is a underpaid job with little rewards, its only the people that make it worth while. • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues where the only people to get me through sometimes, I was joined by 3 lovely girls we all completed our placement together, so it was great everyone within the company has been promoted from within so they all know what it is like, I don't think I've ever met someone I didn't like but when it comes to sales or performance they wont fight to keep you if you are struggling within the company.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • When you first start the job you have regular training and you are given a folder which tracks your progress, the only problem is your so busy you never get to do this, the only way you will be successful in this company is if you push for it, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] managers have good intentions for you but they are so busy it never goes anywhere.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • very very very busy, there are not enough hours in the day, if you work at a normal branch and not an airport don't expect to finish on time 12 hour days, no break eating food quickly while driving on the road, it is one mad rush then you are moaned at when things aren't done write.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As i said before working at the airport you get more time and the shifts meant i was often in control i got to train other members and take responsibility which i loved, but i know people at normal branches spend the whole day driving and being told what to do they gain no skills as a manager.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] the only things you will learn are to work under pressure and to work long hours, which is basically the only reason that other company's love you [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] personally the only reason I have for progressing is because I pushed for it and I knew I was going back to uni I wanted to get something out of my placement but if its a gradate job you do the same every day [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Stressful and demotivated people where unhappy, worked long hours hated their job but needed the money they had not had the rest they needed which didnt help, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] the only time it was good was when you wasnt swampped with customers or you had a good sales day.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • to be honest you are just another number, you could reach out and still not get the help you need, they do not go out their way to make sure you leave happy, you will do an exit interview tell them all they need to know and nothing will change.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • every 3 and 6 months you went for a training session at head office, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] at first it seems they care but as time goes on your left to just work, the only way you will progress is if you make the time for your success.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • they draw you in with the hope of being a branch manager in 2 years this isn't true, I know amazing people who have gone for promotions and not got them [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • you work 10 - 12 hour days there is no time for social things, even with your actual friends, most the time you can never hang out with the work lot because someone is always at work, when your not at work you are so tired you don't even want to do anything, once a year they do a party to reward you that is it.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • i lived at home, so it was fine for me, but some people I know just about cover their rent with there under paid salary and there are branches ever where so it depends on your own situation I guess that's the only benefit that you can move pretty much anywhere and there is a branch

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • it was alright, could be better you could travel to near by but you had no time or money to do this, our work area was pretty awful for nights out you think everyone would be close mates but this was not the case, but I think the nightlife is one of the less important aspects of a job.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • they do a lot of charity work ,but when they do this you get no chance to get involved its only people who work in head office, you get the chance to go along to pride that's about it, i think if they started allowing people to get involved it would improve things.
