This was a very informative and helpful insight event. We got to learn about the different practices the firm is involved in and the importance of insurance law in the legal world. Everyone was really helpful and pleasant to talk to, sharing their stories and guidance as to how to make it in the field of commercial law.
Our input was valued and an activity was planned for us, whose end result was that a sizable donation was made to the Charity we, as students, decided as the best fit for the firm. This was a significant gesture from the firm, showing in practice how much value it placed on us.
We received a lot of support and guidance during the insight day. All events and workshops were clearly explained and we knew the structure immediately. This was very helpful as it enabled us to adapt and be prepared to make the most use of the information we were provided with.
The skills and information received were very helpful in solidifying my determination to study law and especially in a commercial law environment. We got relevant experience in negotiating skills and we got to get information on the tasks and skills requires of a trainee at a city law firm such as RPC.
The Insight day was excellently structured. It allowed for appropriate breaks whenever needed and everything was on time. The presenters all had prepared well and this gave us the opportunity to learn as much as possible in the confidence that what we were being told was correct, relevant and up to date.
The general atmosphere during the insight day was very friendly and warm. You could sense a real sense of collegiality between the trainees, associates and the graduate recruitment team and this was transferred to us as well. Everyone was very professional but also approachable and insightful, making relevant observations and giving us guidance.
The firm invested its time and resources on us, answering all our questions. In terms of personal training, this was not possible considering that this was a single day event alongside 40 other candidates, but the presenters and the graduate recruitment team were always happy and willing to answer all our questions.
The insight helped me to have a great understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role with the firm, as we got to hear trainees talk about their role themselves, as well as getting to see them in action. We even helped out trainees in their daily tasks.
The insight day was a great way to get to know the culture of the firm as we saw the collegiate environment that underpins RPC's success. Its trainees gave us the honest review of their work and the culture of the firm, which perfectly aligned with the promises made by graduate recruitment as to the firm's culture.
The content of the day was very helpful in terms of my decision for my future career path, as it solidified my determination to become a commercial law lawyer in a City law firm. It helped me to understand that this is what I want to do and gave me motivation to push on with my applications.
I live nearby so I did not have any expenses that requires reimbursements, but the firm made it clear that if we had any expenses in attending the insight day, we could claim a reimbursment, once again showcasing how much the firm values our time and interest in the firm.
There were various opportunities to network with other employees of the firm. We got the chance to talk to trainees, associates and even partners during lunch, while we also got to ask questions to a trainee in a more informal setting. We also shadowed a trainee, getting to meet the other lawyers in her team.
The networking and social event opportunities were exceptional. We got to eat good food alongside the firm's trainees, associates and partners. This was within a more informal setting in which we got to know more about the people that make up RPC. Getting to meet people in their working space was also a good bonus.
We did get to find more about the activities that employees get involved in outside of work. This includes doing pro bono work for various charitable organisations, various sports team and even more informal gatherings. The collegiate feeling transcends the whole firm and people enjoy getting to do activities with each other beyond work.
I would very highly recommend the insight to a friend and I have actually done so multiple times. The firm seems to value our time and makes a genuine effort to be both socially and environmentally responsible, while still dealing with some of the most interesting work out there. The insight day gives you the opportunity to see that clearly.
