    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Attending the insight day at the Bank of England was both informative and enjoyable. The first part of the day involves a brief overview of the central bank and the application process and some tips in order to pass the recruitment process. After the overview, we had a panel talk with representatives of the Bank which was very insightful and each person gave an in-depth review of their positions. Special thanks have to be given to Molly Shanahan whose energy made the event enjoyable and made the bank an exciting place to work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Although it was just an insight day, the HR of the Bank made all the attendees valued and well looked after. Everyone had their opportunity to talk and work together in teams when in the group exercise and talking to current employees at the Bank. Overall, I feel very valued at the bank on that day!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • In the overview, the tips and guidance were general as expected from many other insight days. However, the networking time at the end of the event was very insightful and helped with my application to the Graduate program at the bank. Would definitely recommend the time for networking to be expanded but overall it was great!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It was an insight day so there is always a limit to how much that can be given in that time. However, I was able to find out more about prudential regulations and pension regulations during my time. One suggestion is to do another group exercise for the event but still very good.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure of the event is done very well, we were all given an overview of the day beforehand. We also kept mostly to schedule throughout but did ran-over in some areas. Still wished more time for networking but the event is well structured and everyone got out on time.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, I think every attendee found it a good experience. I would definitely recommend it to my friends! The exercise with the ball being thrown was a good exercise to break the ice but I think more space is needed. (But it is an exercise that should be done)

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Since this is an insight day the extent of investment in training and development would be limited. However, in the day that I was at the Bank of England, the people in HR have given time to make sure I have the best chance in the Application Process for the Bank of England.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight was very helpful, the panel debate with other employees at the Bank of England is very insightful in terms of the different groups and representatives at the Bank. For example, I was able to find out more about prudential regulation and also monetary policy. I was also really impressed with the number of different social groups.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • This experience gave great insight into the culture of the Bank and how dedicated the employees are to serve the public. I also found that there are many social groups such as LGBT groups, Asian Group and BAME which shows how inclusive the bank is to different social groups at the bank.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day is very helpful, I was able to learn a lot about working in the central bank and what my work life would be at the bank. The insight day helped me connect with various different people at the event not just the employees but the students who attended the event.
