    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed this insight quite a lot. This is mainly because I had previously undertaken marketing placements before but this allowed me to explore a new realm of business that I could potentially go into and it was really fun to oversee the application processes for the company. In a way, this would help me when applying for a job in the future as I know what is expected.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did not feel very valued by my colleagues and this is because I felt like I was in a more of an observer role and was learning while I was there by watching the other employees. However, I felt somewhat valued in a way as they went out of their way to teach me.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidanc eby my management as I was quite new to this field so they taight me about all the different procedures are in place and I got to see a whole application process throughout my time there, which was definitely very great for me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never too busy while I was there as I never had too much work to do since most of it consisted of watching and learning while I was there. However, I feel like sometimes, it did feel quite boring, especially on quieter days of the application procedure so I did feel quite bored sometimes.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given little to no responsibility during my placement. I occassionally had to do small tasks while I was there but I was never asked to do anything too big for the company. I feel like that I would have liked to do more but I also really appreciate the learning experience I got while there.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the information and skills I developed will definitely help me if I decide to go into a career in recruitment or HR and this is quite good as it has broadened my skillset and introduced me to new parts of businesses. This will be quite useful to me also in applying for jobs in the future as I now know what employees in specific fields are looking for.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In my office, there was generally quite a calm and friendly atmosphere, in between doing tasks directly related to the recruitment procedures. This helped to show me the duality of the workplace and how there can be fun but there must also be work and work to the best of your ability.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the internship was set up quite well. Although I would have liked to do more in the company to help them during my time there, I think that the way this internship was set up really allowed me to learn more about and delve deeper into recruitment as a potential job industry.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the company did invest quite a lot in me as the employees took me under their wing and they made sure that I was understanding all the steps and procedures taken during an application and they were ensuring that I understood everything that goes on behind the scenes of recruitment.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This has certainly made me consider working in recruitment or HR in the future, although not necessarily in the same organisation. It has broadened my interests of working in a business and has made me realise there are so many parts to a business. I would not say that the internship has helped me get a job with this company but I would rather say that it has given me the skills and awareness to help me get a job with any such company in this field.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was quite a good social scene, I would say, between me and the group of colleagues that essentially took me under their wing and guided me throughout the internship, which I am very grateful for. This made the internship much more enjoyable as I was surrounded by people who I got on well with.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • There was no cost for living in the area that I worked in as I commuted to work in the morning given it was not too long to do so and the company reimbursed these expenses. Furthermore, the cost of socialising was relatively cheap, in comparison to some other areas nearby.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was quite a lot of nightlife in the area that I worked in. I got the opportunity to experience such on a few days where I had stayed late in the office so wanted to hang out for a bit after work and these opportunities did not disappoint me at all.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were quite a few opportunities to get involved in outside of work. This sometimes included company events with the colleagues which were quite fun and this also included other activities that were more work-oriented which allowed me to explore the field in a less professional setting which was much more relaxed.
