Audit and Assurance Intern Review

The insight was a fantastic opportunity to gain an understanding of the workings of the largest financial services company in the world. Having the chance to lean from the top individuals in their fields was great and the fact that they were all willing to give up time to help someone on a vacation scheme shows the firms goals to train and develop young people with potential.

I felt incredibly valued as I was made to feel like the potential future of Deloitte and they were quick to give helpful and constructive feedback for whatever job I was a part of. Receiving a job offer at the end reinforced the idea of investing in the future leaders of the business world.

Time was spent to help us familiarise ourselves with the employees in our office as well as the software that we were to be using. This was very beneficial in making the interns feel settled and useful early on. Senior employees were always seen to be looking out for us and keeping track of our progress too.

The skills I learnt helped me to feel confident in aspects off software use that could be transferred into aspect of my degree. The information was helpful in helping confirm that Deloitte was the firm I wanted to commit my graduate years to in beginning my financial career with them.

The insight was well structured with opportunities to have experience own work with both big and small sized firms and with different types and sizes of teams. The only downside was that it did not take place during busy season so there was times of slower work.

The people working at Deloitte showed themselves to be of a high quality with a strong work ethic, which inspired me to see the type of people the firm look to invest in and work with. People were always willing to give time to the interns in giving feedback and explaining tasks too.

The time and explanations given to the interns in the tasks we were set showed a willingness to invest in us. The receipt of a job offer also shows the amount they were willing to invest in me as a future employee of Deloitte.

Having the opportunity to work on different types of jobs and clients gave a great insight into seeing what the type of work I could be doing is like. The only drawback was that, due to the length of the scheme, we couldn't really understand the feeling of day-to-day life for a long time with the firm.

The company's culture of high quality work and investing in future leaders in the financial world was clear from the beginning. Employees themselves could testify this to us, which gave and showed us real examples of it.

It was very valuable in deciding my future career path as I was able to work out that Deloitte was the place I anted to have my graduate training job.

I was paid a basic wage and was repaid for all expenses like driving/travel to onsite jobs and travelling to the induction day in London, with flight and hotels costs reimbursed.

The teams that we were working with spent time and were very friendly with us, taking us out for lunch etc. They also put on social events with free drinks for us to meet different people at different stages and in different positions.

The staff at Deloitte were very friendly and easy to chat to, showing personal qualities and important hiring quality of the firm. This made meeting different people easy and comfortable as they all had interesting things to tell us about their roles or story with Deloitte so far.

They advertised different opportunities to do with outside the office activities and the interns were invited to come play football during the internship with the rest of the office members who usually played and we were made to feel very welcome when we attended.

I would highly recommend this insight scheme as it gave me a fantastic opportunity with a fantastic firm, which ultimately resulted in me receiving a job offer for after I graduate.
