    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the summer internship. It gave me an insight in to working in a professional environment. It also gave me an idea of how Deloitte works, the scale of its operations and the activities that it is involved in. I would recommend this internship to all my friends.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt greatly valued. The team that I was working with listened to my ideas and took them on-board. My input was always appreciated. I was made to feel welcomed and I was made to feel that I was making a positive contribution to the project team's efforts. The project manager was always happy to help and answered all of my questions.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given as much guidance as I needed to get on with my tasks. Furthermore, the Teach First ambassadors who helped find the projects put me in contact with various people in Deloitte so that I could find out about the portfolio offerings. The analyst QA sessions were incredibly useful as well.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot of new techniques and features in Excel and Powerpoint that I was not aware of before. These will definitely help me with my work in school when planning lessons, staff CPD and so on. Furthermore, I got an opportunity to learn about applications of technology in business and and developed my commercial awareness.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The summer internship was quite well structured. The first day was all about induction and logistics. I was provided with a timetable, a laptop and and met my project manager. Social events, analyst and partner Q&As were clearly highlighted and I was able to get an ideal time slot for my partner interview.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was surprising in a highly positive way. I felt that support was always available. All staff were very approachable. There were a lot of opportunities to socialise. Meeting people and building up a network of contacts was always encouraged. Everyone whom I spoke to seemed like they were really enjoying their time at Deloitte.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I am not sure about this. I was there for two weeks and I not aware of how much the firm did invest in me.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I learnt what consulting in Deloitte is about. Furthermore, I got a chance to talk to a large number of people from my chosen portfolio offering about what their roles involved. I observed an took part in the kinds of activities that full time employees undertake.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The internship taught me a lot about the culture at Deloitte. This came through the induction where current analysts described their experiences in Deloitte. I then observed the culture as I performed my duties and spoke to many people.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • By speaking to various analysts about their work and their experiences and after reading a lot about the services being delivered by Deloitte to its clients, I was able to narrow down my preferred portfolio offerings. Furthermore, my skills, knowledge and interests are closely aligned with the work that goes on within Deloitte.

  • I was paid adequately for this summer internship.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a lot of opportunities for networking. It was highly encouraged, and the Teach First ambassadors were always keen to find people in relevant service lines to put me in touch with. Furthermore, analyst Q&A sessions and various other networking events were held to provide further opportunities for networking.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • With regards to meeting or speaking to individual people, I always found that to be highly relevant to whatever I was trying to find out about. Other events gave more general information about people's careers at Deloitte. On the whole, the networking and social opportunities were plentiful and excellent. They were extremely well planned.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out some of the ways in which Deloitte in working with communities such as the One Million Futures programme and mentoring for children in school. I am intrigued about the work that Deloitte does with charities and social enterprises and would like to find out more and get involved.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would highly recommend this internship to my friends. It is enjoyable, engaging and insightful. It offers a tremendous opportunity to gain experience at a professional services firm, develop commercial awareness and learn new skills. It also gives information about the company culture and can help people decide if they want to join Deloitte.
