Vacation Scheme Intern Review

I found it very insightful since I got to meet so many people who were just so welcoming. I got to learn about the role and everyone was always willing to answer any questions I had. The location was also perfect, right at the centre! Overall it was a great experience.

I was always given a task each day and was given so much flexibility on how I would finish my tasks and get involved in even more. Each time I completed something, they would make sure I was appreciated which made me feel a sense of accomplishment. Of course since I had barely any background, my work was checked over and this gave me guidance.

The people at Deloitte were expecting and wanting me to ask them questions, this provided all the guidance and support I needed. There were times where I felt lost but I was back on track when I knew how to ask the right questions. I only realized how much they wanted to make my experience the best towards the end which was a little upsetting since I could have learnt even more.

I managed to learn a lot about the future I could be having in this industry which was very inspiring. I appreciated the experience even more since I learnt more about more than just auditing, I also learnt about insurance and many aspects about the two. I also got a gist of how my degree knowledge will help in these industries.

The insight was pretty well structured since I got to do more than I had applied for. It would have been more rewarding if I could have spent a longer time with the company since it is their summer scheme but I managed to get a general gist during the insight.

In terms of fun, I would have liked more instances to meet other interns within the same office or more social events for conversations beyond the workplace. Otherwise I really did enjoy meeting all the new people and getting to know how they came to this company or their respective roles.

I truly understood how the people in the company work with each other. I really enjoyed how everyone was calm and easy. There was not much stress but everyone still got their jobs done. This was the kind of environment I believe I enjoy. Everyone was also very welcoming and inclusive.

I would have liked to have met more people from the other departments and parts of the company to know which part of the company I best fit in. I learn a whole lot about this service line but in terms of this question I would have appreciated more an insight to the other roles in the company.

This is similar to the next question, due to the lack of social events, there were less instances to meet other people within the company. I believe this is so because the scheme was rather short and as such not many occasions for such events were possible. I definitely would have attended enjoyed a couple of formal/informal events.

This is something I think was lacking for this insight program but, nonetheless, I still met and learnt from many different people.

I thought that Deloitte would have many instances for this, unfortunately, in my short time with the company I had not noticed many instances for this. For instance I was not too aware of the charity work and sports activities the employees at Deloitte join. The available options were very vague although I do believe they are present.

The scheme was very inspiring and I had a great experience overall. I would definitely suggest others to do this but also look for other possible schemes to do before or after if you want to make full use of your summer. The only factor I was unhappy about was the length of the scheme.
