    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed the variety of work that was offered to me and the opportunity to get involved with different aspects of the business, including client work, talent, propositions and business development. This exposure allowed me to understand the importance of the different areas and how they come together to create a successful business

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The variety of different people you get to work with means that early on you get to know your colleagues and therefore know who you work well with and who to reach out to when looking for additional work. The different hierarchies in all teams mean that you can talk to peers or more senior colleagues about issues.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout my placement, and the different projects I was on, I had different levels of immediate management allowing me to be exposures to lots of different management styles. My managers ensured they gave regular feedback and made an effort to answer any questions I had. The main benefit I found is that very senior members of the team were around and always willing to help and answer questions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of the business area there would be periods that were very busy and required an all hands on deck approach. During these times you would sometimes be asked to work longer hours, however for this commitment you were always rewarded with the hours back, praise or tangible rewards. Other times you would be really quiet and struggle to find meaningful work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I got lots of opportunities to sit in meetings with directors and partners and share my ideas. On a piece of work I worked directly with a director and was responsible for organising a group of more senior staff. While I was responsible for client deliverables I had the support of more senior colleagues to ensure quality.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt more relevant real world skills than I do on my degree. Specifically data analysis skills which can be utilised in a variety of future jobs and in my degree. I developed a variety of Soft skills which made returning to university easier to handle in terms of work load and responsibility

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • When I first started there were regular events to ensure the new starters had the best chance of getting to know people. During busy periods it could get quite hectic but an effort was made to ensure that celebrations were held after these points as a way to reward staff.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was treated like a grade and offered all the same training as the grads. The only difficulty came at the end when I was so imbedded in the grad group that it was difficult to understand my leaving requirements. Once set up I was offered an exit interview to discuss my year and the future

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had a two week boot camp at the beginning of my placement and excel based kubicle training throughout. Some skills had to be learnt quickly using online training before projects started to fit requirements. The on the job practical training was conducted well so as to fit skill set to demand.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very innovative department, currently undergoing some changes to future proof. The technological focus means that it is always changing and providing you are willing to learn the new skills required and move with the times you could successfully keep developing and continue to succeed in the job role for the future.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Regular socials for teams, grad groups and departments

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive living situation and socialising as it was in London. Many work socials were paid for meaning that everyone had the chance to attend and socialise without having to worry about direct costs. When travelling away from the main office this was covered by expenses so that you are never out of pocket

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 1/5
