    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed working and meeting the people I did. I'm not sure I want to pursue a career in recruitment after university however the skills and friends I made during my year have been The social aspect of Randstad is extremely good, team nights out, the annual conference and Christmas do's are a real benefit to the placement year. I've made vital contacts for the future and couldn't have asked for a better manager.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really enjoyed working with everybody I met over the course of my placement. I fit in very well and since the majority of colleagues are of a similar age it helped with the social aspect of the job.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was extremely helpful and friendly. She always went out of her way for me and we had regular 1:1's to make sure I was on track and enjoying myself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The busyness of days varied for me I initially had fairly quiet days but as I asked for more work it became a better balance.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of autonomy and the work I was completing was meaningful and used by the wider business thus meaning I had a high degree of responsibility during the year.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Being in a professional work environment has aided me drastically in regards to organisation, communication and time management skills which are vital core skills in both university life and life after. I also developed my excel skills immensely which for my future career path will be very useful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • For me it was very positive and not too stressful however I think in general recruitment can be hard work and stressful. The culture is still positive despite this.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a induction at the head office in Luton which was specifically designed for placement students. This was well organised and useful for networking. I think because most placement students at Randstad are across the country it would be hard to have a more targeted internship scheme.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had online training that you could access and voluntarily participate in. We also had a two day induction that was training orientated.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely go back to Randstad however I want to pursue a career in something different. If this didn't work out I would love to go back and try recruitment out properly.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was in the Manchester office so there was around 7 placement students there. I got on well with everybody however we generally just did social events with our work teams.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home but Manchester can be quite expensive to live in depending on the area. Manchester itself isn't too bad for the cost of socialising but again depends on where you go, the social life itself is great in Mcr!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I like Manchester for nights out, you can do nice bars in spinning fields or in NQ so there a wide choice.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Quite a lot of team nights out and sporting events a lot of people seemed to do.

    4/5
