  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP offered thorough insight into the firm and proved to be a very rewarding experience. The unique Business of Law Week showed that CMS are dedicated to going a step further than other law firms in terms of giving the participants a glimpse into the career of a commercial lawyer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • During the second and third week of the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, I was put in one of the departments of the firm. There, I got a chance to do real work and collaborate with other more senior lawyer. At all times I felt like my contributions were valued by my coworkers. A piece of research that I did got used in ongoing litigation, which was very rewarding.

  • As a participant of the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, I received high amount of guidance and support throughout my three weeks there. Even the senior lawyers always took the time to explain the context of the work I was asked to do. The Early Talent Acquisition Team were very responsive and supportive.

  • Having finished the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, I feel well equipped to pursue the career of a commercial lawyer. Thanks to the scheme, I have managed to secure a year long internship as well as a training contract at the firm.

  • The CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP ran smoothly from the beginning to the end. The events and activities were well spaced out, always leaving time for a short break and networking. This way, I was managed to stay alert throughout the programme without any unnecessary stress.

  • The atmosphere during the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP was friendly, supportive and inspiring throughout the three weeks. I made some great friends who will also be my future coworkers and got a chance to expand my professional network with people from the industry.

  • The investment that went into each individual attendee of the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP was unmatched. From providing us the accommodation during the first week to covering the costs of food and transport for most of the scheme, CMS showed they really cared about every single one of us.

  • The CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP was an accurate representation of the firm and its culture. Three weeks were long enough to get a feel of the offices and the people, and the activities we undertook during the scheme showed us what it takes to be a commercial lawyer.

The culture proved itself to be just as inclusive as advertised. The firm invited us to march with them at London Pride, which was one of my highlights of the insight scheme.

  • The content of the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP reaffirmed my wishes of becoming a commercial lawyer and, more particularly, of training at the firm. The activities I undertook, the nature of the deals I worked on and the kind of people I was surrounded with confirmed that law was the correct career choice for me.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP were very generous in paying us for all three weeks of the CMS Academy as well as reimbursing our travel for the first week. The Early Talent Acquisition team were particularly helpful and considerate, because they agreed to my request for financial help since I come from an underprivileged background. This showed that CMS truly care about every single one of us and that they truly wanted us to feel comfortable at the firm.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The opportunities for networking and meeting other employees during the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP were countless. We had numerous drinks, lunches and dinners with CMS lawyers and other professionals CMS works with. I left the scheme with a much bigger professional network.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events during the CMS Academy vacation scheme at the London office of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP were fun, relaxed and inclusive. There was always plenty of drinks, but the people who do not drink felt comfortable as well. The feel of social events was collegiate, it did not feel like we were being assessed or judged.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. Alongside finding out about the activities that CMS employees can get involved in, we were also invited to participate. Thus some participants played football and other sports, some attended various educational events during lunch, and some of us even went to London Pride with CMS, since they are the official legal sponsor of the event.
