    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Highly enjoyed the process. Loved the trading exercise the networking session to gain an insight of what it is like to work for the organisation.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt that I was given an objective view on what the company offered and why it stands out in the finance industry. I did not feel like I was intimidating, but in fact felt welcomed

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Yes, a lot of guidance in terms of tackling real life scenarios and practical advice.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed team-working skills from the group exercise, built up confidence from talking to employees and strangers.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Well-structured. The day was long and jam-packed, but everything was organised well and there were no inconveniences

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Friendly, but also there was a professional tone to all the activities

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Since it was only an insight program, there was not much personal development during the course. I think when looking at a company, I really look for company's who invest in my personal development. Since the world is ever-changing, and the process is even accelerated in the finance industry, it is necessary to develop new skills to adapt to change

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Yes, I had a good view from working in different departments in the firm from the networking session and the graduate panel. It definitely proved that M&G is truly diverse institution that gives you the support to thrive in the company. The advice the graduates gave of practicing aptitude tests, having the self-confidence despite the competitiveness was inspiring.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot. Clarified what role the firm had in the finance industry, its main objectives and future prospects. The conversations with employees enabled me to understand the company culture more. Especially talking to employees that come from different backgrounds, it was insightful to learn the different paths you can take to enter the firm. It definitely established that if you don't get into any student programs, there are still opportunities to enter the world of asset management.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Valuable and provided me with the confidence and necessary tools to apply for an internship. It provided me of tips of how to tackle the video interviews, what the company culture was like, what the company's values are and how they align with mine, as well as how suited I am to the company.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Since I live in London, I did not request for reimbursement for travel. I do not know about other participants, but from the diversity of students I met during the event, it seems like travel imbursements were included, which is encouraging. It was interesting to talk to students from around England and what were their motivations to get into finance.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. There were two sessions for this, the networking session for lunch and the Q&A panel for graduates. I wish there was a panel of employees that are in high positions in the company to ask more career related questions, and questions about their point of view of the future of the industry.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Yes, they were extremely useful. I would suggest rather than having 3-4 rounds of trading exercises, having a longer time for networking would have been useful, as I didn't get the chance to talk to a variety of people in the short time. Being able to socialize would have given me a good personal insight in what the company is actually like from gathering different perspectives.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. the different networks and clubs offered, made the firm seem like a friendly and inclusive community. The employee from technology described the sports teams, the network to empower minorities and the company's initiative to form a strong bond between employees was eye-opening. It felt more of like a university than a company, where everyone is very close to each other.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes. Especially to friends that are in science degrees, but do not want to pursue science research as a career. I think finance is a good area that compliments the skills learnt in science, but also provides that social aspect that research might not be able to give. The diversity of work offered is also appealing.
