    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was an insightful day that gave a lot of information about the different routes and opportunities around the Grad schemes, whilst providing a fun and friendly atmosphere where nothing was un-accessible and everyone was free to answer questions and engage with us. Would recommend anyone who is looking at this industry to attend an insight day with them

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Values in terms of there being opportunity to speak to others and have questions answered = there was plenty of chances and they really made the event inclusive. However, from one insight day it is extremely difficult to add additional value and so not everyone is able to get one on one time with every single person they want to or get a great sense of being valued.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As mentioned above in previous comments, no question was not answered (if asked), which means any support we wanted during the day was fully open to us and we were given ample guidance for the opportunities to do internships etc. Guidance before was also good, especially as I had a few questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • For a one day insight day, I am surprised at how much information they managed to teach us and not make dry and boring. They had some great speakers come in to share a little about their job, and made everything engaging so that even those from outside the investment sector could understand.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We were given breaks just about when one was needed, a good duration over lunch (n order to network and speak amongst ourselves) and each session fitted in well with the rest of the day. Before hand the information was well structured and I think it especially good that it is in October.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Personally, I think everyone went in thinking it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was. This was mainly due to them giving such broad insights into what they offer and do, so there seemed to be an atmosphere of relief and genuine interest, as well as enthusiasm to learn more and get involved.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • They talked through the roles in depth and gave us an overview of the two different schemes and what each one entails. I was so enthusiastic about the investment scheme on offer that I have applied to the role. The way the current graduates talk about their roles and the company motivated us to lean in more.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As written above, the current grads were so open and enthusiastic that it represented the culture as the same. I was surprised as it was not what I had expected going in, but am pleased that there is such a modern approach to the business. The fact that they chose the Sustainability and current grads as speakers, shows some of the things they really value and practise as a company.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • In all honesty, I was on the fence about applying as I knew little about their actual culture and their new Graduate roles, so the day was for me to see if it is somewhere I want to apply. As I mentioned, I have now applied and placed them in my top 3 choices (if I am successful in the next rounds!)

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • But you are given lunch and ample snacks and drinks to keep you fresh and awake (Although they do not cover your travel expenses - so be aware if you are coming from outside of London. I would still recommend taking the trip, but appreciate that it can be expensive for most)

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As mentioned in a few of the other posts about their insight day, there were limited employees to the amount of insight students. However, I know how hard it can be to get full time workers to drop in for a networking session, so was please with those that I managed to speak to.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I didn't ask the question as there wasn't really an opportunity, but I do know that others were able to get a better insight and there seems to be a variety of activities to get involved in. There were quite a few people who had completed finance and accountancy exams, which they now have.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • The day was the deciding factor for me choosing to apply to M&G Prudential and therefore was definitely worth it for me. For others who are not necessarily interested in this industry, I would still say they should go and find out more, as there are a variety of roles and chances to learn.
