    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The actual work was great but work/life balance not so much - 60/70 hour weeks the norm in some branches.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Get feedback provided every month by management.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Personal Development Meetings every month, 6 month reviews, management in branch happy to support.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Too busy in certain branches. Simply don’t have the time to do everything required of you without going into overtime.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Regularly get given the opportunity to run a branch in the later stage of the placement. Are left to your own devices more and more as you progress through the year.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learnt so much through the year that will be transferable to my degree and future careers. Huge breadth of skills that are tested throughout this placement.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally there was always a very positive atmosphere within the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Placement seemed pretty well set up. Rotate branch after 6 months to experience and understand how the company runs. Constantly set goals to try and work towards each month.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Received plenty of training and development. However the quality did vary from branch to branch. Second branch I worked the training and development was not so beneficial or consistent.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • In general was a good company to work for. As mentioned only thing that would really put me off a long term career is the work/life balance. 60/70 hour weeks regularly.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Probably one of the best aspects of the job. The fellow placement students and all the people who work there are encouraged to socialise and regularly given work nights out etc.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Carried out my placement in Edinburgh so cost of living and socialising is rather high.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Night life in Edinburgh is great. Huge variety of venues and things to do.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are plenty opportunities on offer varying from charitable work through to nights out.

    4/5
