    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed the placement but would have been better with a higher workload

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Enjoyed working with all colleagues and felt very valued by all members of the teams that I worked in. They appreciated my skill and the experience that I already had.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager was very helpful and insightful, and anything that he didn't know he found out and got back to me quickly. Also made my transition to my graduate role very smooth and easy for me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Varied from week to week, some weeks I would be very busy and other weeks I would have little to do. This was likely due to many people being away for the summer holidays whilst I was working.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility and an appropriate amount of independence to lead and work on my own tasks, including interviewing senior staff members, and feeding back to the team on my own with little supervision.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Team work, working to deadlines and having routines are always good transferrable skills to have, which I gained whilst working. There's also the element of presentation which can be difficult but doing more at work can help going forward.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally very upbeat, quiet as it needed to be to ensure people could work effectively but not uncomfortably silent. Atmosphere was always very friendly and welcoming, making it easy to settle in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Was late starting due to processing errors with security but otherwise well organised, although could have done with having a more organised work structure. Some additional welcome meetings would have been ideal for a summer student - this didn't affect me too much as I'd worked there previously.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Given that I was only there for the summer not all that much training time was invested but this is understandable. I am aware for more training that could be available if I had requested it.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Have a graduate role secured for after my university course is completed.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes although this was mainly because I organised several events throughout the placement.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lived at home so cost of living is n/a, cost of socialising could become pricey as I lived outside the city, generally fairly priced costs otherwise.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in Portsmouth is generally good, large variety of pubs/bars/clubs/restaurants to go to.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some sports clubs available but could have been more available and have had more proactive societies.

    4/5
