    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My work placement has been extremely valuable. Imagine a fun and enjoyable office environment. - This is it.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues have been helpful throughout my placement. I have been learning new things everyday and that wouldn't have been possible without work mates who've been able to support me day in, day out. Working at Focusrite on a placement doesn't necessarily make you feel like a 'placement student' and I was part of the team from day one.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor has been thoroughly helpful and supportive throughout my placement. Whenever I'm having a problem completing a task or need help with something my supervisor has been on hand.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Being an employee on placement at Focusrite has a very healthy work environment, so I was never worked too hard, or had nothing to do. There was always a comfortable balance between high priority and lower priority tasks, meaning with good planning I maintained a healthy amount of business.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Since I was valued as one of the team, I was trusted from day one. My work colleagues respected my ability which meant I felt confident the work I was producing was of a high quality. Feedback was always constructive, and that built a high level of trust with the rest of the team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can't begin to list all of the things I have learnt from my placement. From design skills to professionalism, and everything in between, I feel as though I've developed as an individual in a way I was not expecting from my placement. My placement role at Focusrite has certainly given me confidence in my ability and will hugely benefit in my final year in University.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is fun and lively. A day doesn't go by without a huge smile gleaming across my face. If you like Mario Kart, board games and a generously stocked kitchen, you'll get on great in the office. If I could rate the atmosphere 11/10, I would certainly do that!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The interview process was straightforward and simple. I had a UX task to complete and in-person interview, which weren't intimidating. - I felt very comfortable in the interview process. My onboarding process at the start of my placement was also extremely well setup, with everything I needed to get started.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This is something I was not expecting. Focusrite encourage up to 20% of all work hours to be in personal training and development. This is extremely valuable since it provides an opportunity to support any of the other work I am doing in the office and increase my overall knowledge and skills.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The office is full of diverse hobbies and interests, meaning there's something for everyone.
