    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my work on my internship. I was really given the freedom to experience working with different teams and was trusted to work independently. I was given the opportunity to complete tasks and join in on important projects. I really learnt so much over my time in the role.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues at Nestlé were friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. I felt immediately welcome and they helped me to settle in very quickly. I truly felt values by them as they respected my opinion and approached me to help them with projects. They were a pleasure to work with.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisions provided me with enough support to feel like I had guidance but also plenty of freedom. I was given independence to complete tasks on my own but knew that if at any point I needed some help, that I could go to them. It was a nice balance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The level of business in my internship started off slowly as I mostly learnt about the market and how the business functioned. But before long I was very busy and enjoying the rush of having lots to do! It again died down a bit as I approached the end but that’s to be expected.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given enough responsibility to feel like I was making a difference and helping with the business. But I also was supported at all times by someone more senior and they ensured that they kept track of what I was doing and how it was going. It worked well.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree subject and my internship are very different so the internship was never going to assist too much there as I an a physics student on a marketing internship. But I definitely learned a huge amount that is now going towards shaping my decisions about my future career choices.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was friendly and calm. It wasn’t frantic or particularly busy sometimes as many of the employees worked from home. But I was never bored either as I always had plenty to be getting on with. Fridays in particular were very quiet every week as people were at home.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organising of the internship wasn’t bad but it could have been better. The woman who was meant to be in charge of my internship in particular went on maternity leave during and wasn’t replaced until after I had left. So whilst it wasn’t poorly organised there was room for improvement there.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given the opportunity to attended 2 excellent training days which were about presenting with impact and also learning what kind of person you are and how you can fit into the workplace and work well with others. these were well run and very valuable experiences overall, I learned a lot.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am very hopefully for my job prospects at Nestlé. I very much hope to get a role there and I believe I have a good chance. I believe that they care for their employees and there is plenty of room for promotion and career progression within such a big business.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a weekly fitness training on a monday that I really enjoyed called regiment fitness. A trainer would come and run a tough army style session which was really hard work. there was also weekly pilates and the odd evening gathering. The social scene was decent but not too much.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very average pricing.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There isn’t much nightlife in Welwyn Garden City at all. It’s a small place within restaurants and some pubs really. But london is just a half an hour train away straight to kings cross so there’s plenty to do if you get on the train. London is just a stones throw away.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sporting activities mostly.

    4/5
