    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • So far i am really enjoying my placement. Over the time i have been here i have learnt many new skills that i will carry on to enhance throughout my future career. For example, i have learnt how to effectively screen a candidate, match the correct skills and experience on a candidates CV to what is required for a job role and learn how to use business systems such as GR8 People.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel very valued by my team members. I have been involved in meetings and making business decisions. I have also started working on projects with other members of my team. Furthermore, my colleagues value my opinion a lot especially on subjects such as placements as i am a placement student myself and can give my view.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have been given excellent support and guidance from my managers. I have had induction training teaching me about the business and what it takes to be a successful recruiter. Within my first few days i sat one on one with each member of my team and they talked me through their role and what they do. I also had opportunities to shadow candidate prescreening so i could utilise those skills learnt when i began doing it myself. I was also thoroughly taught how to use business systems. If i am struggling with anything my manager and team are always there to help me and answer any queries that i have.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis i am very busy. I have a certain number of job roles personally set to me which i have to get through in a day. I also have project tasks on the side that i am expected to complete.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I am given a lot of responsibility whilst completing my placement year. I have set job roles that i am responsible for processing and prescreening candidate applications for, which are then passed on to interview with my hiring manager.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and training that i have learnt will definitely assist me in my degree as i study business management and human resources which links extremely well with recruitment. It will also aid me in writing my dissertation as i have seen the theory that i have learnt in my lectures be put to practise in a real organisation.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there is an excellent social scene amongst colleagues. We make a conscious effect to go out as a team and do team activities after work! Within my first week we all went out for drinks and went to a karaoke bar! We also go to a food market called leather lane every friday as a team.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I currently am living at home and commuting to Central London. If you were to live in London the cost of living may be quite high. When out drinks are also London prices. Although this is not a bad thing there are many places to explore and you get to enjoy the buzz of London!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Socialising in the area is excellent, there are many bars, clubs and pubs to go to. Right next to the office there is an interactive ping pong bar! It is also very near Farringdon station so you can get the tube to anywhere you want to go in London!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There has been lots of opportunities to get involved in activities! The company has annual conferences that you are invited too. We also have a christmas party for the business and a christmas party within my team. The company also owns a boat called the clipper that sales around the world and which we are all invited to go on when it is docked in London.
