    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was very well planned by PWC, providing me with a good idea of the goings on inside the business as a whole, every team was very nice and easy to talk to. Going above and beyond to answer any questions and help out in any way they can.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone in the firm welcomed us with open arms, made sure that we were comfortable and provided help at any time, even though we weren’t really doing work for them they still took time out of their own jobs to give us a great insight into technology in pwc Belfast.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Many teams provided us with great links to learn about what they do, the blockchain team in particular where very helpful offering to show me the code and how even the simplest parts of it come together. Many teams gave us their contact info if we ever had a query to a problem, the support was first class.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The mix of soft skills and code knowledge gained at the academy has helped me push myself into other opportunities, that before I wouldn’t of even thought to go for. Within my degree it has kept me eager to keep learning and progress my skillset to be above my competitors.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well planned, all the days were laid out in advance so you knew what you’d be doing before coming in. All teams we went too had activities planned for us, which made the days fly in. This helped a lot in regards to travelling as you knew what times you had to be somewhere.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The insight was very helpful in understanding what pwc would be like to work for, the week was packed full of great activities keeping us motivated and interested during the week. The teams provided great information to help with further studies as well as getting into further placements with pwc

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of time was invested into the week as many employees had to move from their busy schedule to accommodate us. They provided a lot of knowledge during the week that most company’s wouldn’t even bring up, that will help further my own career weather it be with pwc or not.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me to see what pwc was like as a tech business compared to a software house, it opened my eyes to a lot of different technologies and methodologies being used today. The insight has gave me a good idea of what side of the business I would like to get into. And gave me the knowledge of what other jobs that are available in pwc

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As it was only a week, I didn’t get the full grasp on the culture within the company. During the time I spent I did get small snippets of the work life balance within. But I do think more time is needed to truely understand what it would be like

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • During the first day we met all the teams in different sides of the tech programmes in the company this gave me a great understanding of what sort of career route I would like to go down. The mix of projects that I found very interesting and ones that I didn’t feel the connection to has already helped me along my career path

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The pay was very competitive and more than covered the costs of travel, I thought taking a week of my part time job in summer would be horrible for a student but it worked out to help pay for a few nights out! I wouldn’t of expected to be paid for a free insight into the business especially with the knowledge I gained.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Two of the days we were able to go around the business and network with teams, this filled up my LinkedIn and has helped create some great opportunities for me. Everyone was willing to help and gave us contact details in case of any questions we may have in the future.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • On the last day we had an hour or two to network and chat to people within the company, it was good. I feel like more time would’ve been better to help relax yourself more so that conversation was flowing. But overall it was a good experience. They even bought pizza and beer!

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We found out about a few things you can do outside of work but it still doesn’t seem like a massive amount compared to other companies. I’m sure if I am to return for placement I will find out a lot more, due to it being a week long experience not everything could be crammed into it

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely, it was great to get my foot in the door. Everyone was very helpful and it has helped me to jump into the technology scene within Belfast. I have been offered a placement after the week, which has made my second year very relaxed knowing that I have everything sorted from one week in the summer.
