    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The High Yield Programme was very informative, I particularly liked the showcases from each division and thought the organisation was very good. I perhaps would have liked a bit more notice for webinars, the shadowing dates etc as sometimes this was very last minute meaning I had already made prior plans at work etc. I think a timeline/ diary of event dates would be good to make it more efficient.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone was incredibly welcoming, I could not fault them on this at all. Jignesh and other DB representatives were very accommodating to our needs and making us feel at ease. The employees in the wealth management division really wanted me to get as much out of the day as possible and set me my own tasks and let me rotate around the floor to get a full flavour of the firm. Everyone had read my CV before I went so already knew my name and a little bit about me, which I thought was a super lovely touch.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The scheme was particularly brilliant over the holidays where we had webinars and one to one coaching sessions so was brilliant for support. The webinars really gave you the chance to see which division was right for you by asking lots of questions to employees. Employees from the wealth management division also asked for my Linked In details, and one even emailed me himself off the back of the day telling me to email him if I needed any guidance which I thought was lovely

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the last session which included interview skills and presenting skills gave me a lot of personal development. Having to get up on a stage and speak to an audience made more confident in my presenting skills and getting feedback from Andrew and my peers allowed me to see where I can improve which was incredibly useful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The bootcamp sessions at Deutsche had a very good structure, however the webinars and homework etc over the summer could have been structured better. I would perhaps also tell people on the website for when they are applying to high yield in future that this will be a commitment over the entirety of summer and not just two standalone sessions at the bank, as sometimes I struggled to balance this with work. Prior notice, or a schedule at the start of the programme would have been good.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everybody was super lovely, I made some really good friends on the programme which is brilliant! All the representatives form Deutsche were all very accommodating. The only criticism may be that on the first sessions, towards the end of the day people generally started to get quite tired from sitting and hearing people talk all day. Perhaps a more interactive or a networking showcase could be good for a division

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is definitely a lot of opportunities for students to progress and train at Deutsche, their graduate recruitment programmes are brilliant. As we were only their for a few day ability to invest in us was limited, however it was clear they were doing everything they could to allow us to learn as much as possible and experience the areas we wanted to learn more about

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This was mostly thanks to the shadowing on the second session. Hearing about wealth management from webinars was actually quite different to what I saw in person in a very positive way. I think to understand this more another day of shadowing would be good - perhaps in the same or different division, and perhaps by giving us a task to do we could explore this more

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The shadowing day allowed me to network with a lot of people in the division and I saw how genuinely friendly and open everyone at the firm was. They were all honest about the culture and were all unanimous in its friendly culture, which I definitely could feel throughout the day

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Again, the shadowing day was most helpful in this. It allowed me to see if I could fit into this sort of workplace which I felt I definitely could. The only reason for not 10 stars is because I think an extra day of work shadowing could have enhanced this even further by allowing us to ask more questions without as many time restrictions

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As I was not from London, I needed to get a hotel. I didn’t expect to be reimbursed the full price of this however Deutsche kindly said they would reimburse the price of my accommodation and travel which I think was very generous. This made me see that Deutsche genuinely cared about students and really wanted to invest in us doing well!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, at lunch representatives would come and talk to us while we are which I thought was very lovely. I do think perhaps more representatives could have come, and it could have been nice to have a networking lunch on the last day with the representatives we had worked with the day before to be able to see them again/ say thank you. This could have also enhanced connections

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Again, as above these were really good. I would have liked to have seen a few more representatives from the divisions for which we could apply at lunch too, as I often spoke to representatives in audit etc which was incredibly interesting but not actually a division we could apply for on the programme

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • To be honest, not particularly. I heard a lot about the culture of the firm, and on the shadowing day a lot of the employees emphasised how the work/life balance was rather good. But I didn’t hear much about activities that Deutsche offer etc. That could have been a useful/ interesting one

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend it to a friend, however only if I knew they were seriously considering this as a career. I joined the programme not knowing much about banking and just wanting to explore it, but I was not prepared for the amount of work I would have to pursue around it. However for budding bankers it really is an invaluable programme.
