    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed it a lot. Thought Human Resources were very open and honest about the application process and how we were assessed. I also really enjoyed the socials and thought they had been planned out really well, allowing us to get to know the other participants in the scheme.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As it was only a week long, we didn't do much work that actively contributed to the firm but I definitely felt valued in that they had invested a lot of time and effort in us, ensuring that we enjoyed ourselves and had a good experience. Moreover, I did feel like the work I did was productive and useful and that I had a positive input in my team.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a lot of guidance and support. On the first day we were explicitly told what qualities they were looking for from us, and how to display those. In addition, we were also told in detail about the application process and what they selected their successful candidates based upon.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Doing the scheme gave me a lot of confidence in my own abilities and how to work in an office environment. This was useful going forwards. Moreover, they gave extensive feedback on our conduct on the scheme, activities we did, and how we worked within our team. This was really useful as I knew what my strengths were and what to work on going forward.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I thought that the insight was really well structured; there was a good mix of mingling and social opportunities, as well as working at a desk in a team, and receiving talks about the firm. I thought the talks from partners were really great; they were very open and candid and I felt able to ask and question.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I thought the atmosphere was really good; the candidates had been chosen really well and we all got on, with everyone being very friendly and approachable. Furthermore, Human Resources ran the scheme really well in that it didn't feel competitive or as though we were competing against one another for places.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were only there for a week so the firm's capacity to invest time and money in us was limited. That being said, HR were always there for us throughout the week to answer any questions and organising talks and events. My team also gave up lots of time to talk to me, mark my work and take me to meetings.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was really great in this respect; the networking opportunities with people from all levels in the firm were such that I got a view of life was like at the firm not only as a trainee, but also as a junior associate, a senior associate and a partner. HR were also very good in answering any questions we had on this.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was very good, everyone I met, particularly HR, were very good and open when discussing this.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable as I not only worked within a team but also attended lots of talks in which employees outlined their day to day activities.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for the week and many free drinks/meal events were put on in the evenings.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The firm connected each of us with a partner to have coffee with. This was great in allowing us 1 to 1 networking time with someone very senior in the firm. They had also tried to match us based on common ground, for example similar hobbies or having gone to the same university.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were really fun and our trainee buddies were invited to some. This was great as it allowed us to talk to them openly outside a formal work setting. These were also a really good opportunity to chat to HR and find out more about the process and the steps going forward.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, during talks partners would often discuss their hobbies - such as one who moonlighted as an actor.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot about the firm.
