Technology Analyst Review

I thoroughly enjoyed the placement. I learnt so much about the company and what it's like in a corporate environment. the team's work was really interesting too, there were fun socials with other interns, and i enjoyed everything i got exposed to

colleagues saw me as a member of the team, not an intern. they all really respected my opinions and weren't afraid to ask my opinion on stuff that they knew i know well. several people commented that they didn't even realise i was an intern, i just seemed another member of the team

manager was supportive and gave me good guidance at first, particularly when i was unsure how to find my footing in the team. he became a bit more hands off as i became more comfortable but that suited my style.

most of the time i had plenty of work to do, however my team was a bit disorganized and without direction due to changing management, so there would come times when no one on the team would know what we were meant to be doing, especially if my manager was away. we used this time for technical tasks though

given i was treated as a normal employee, i did everything everyone else did. programming, testing, corresponding with operations, deployments to production etc. i did more production deployments than most of the team, and was the main support person for certain apps during a period of a lot of issues with it, in that ops would always just contact me

i vastly improved my programming skills and i can see it's going to have a huge impact on my final year studies. my attitudes to work and programming have changed for the better and this will benefit me also i'm sure. I also know how to find my footing in professional environments, how I communicate etc which will help post university

very relaxed most of the time in my team. My team all got on very well and I was able to chat to most of my team casually as we worked, and i got along with everyone. we'd also have socials every now and then out of work, and i would eat with my team frequently at lunch and felt comfortable to talk to them all

nothing bad to say about the organisation. everything was well put together from the communication before arriving until departure. the only time i felt it wasn't well organised was when i left, as it took 5 weeks and mentioning i hadn't received anything to get communication about next steps on my graduate offer. however i understand summer interns were priority at the time

There were lots of training opportunities at JP, from online courses to the ocassional training internally. However none of them particularly lined up with when i was there, and i wouldn't say i was particularly put forward for any type of training, so i wouldn't really say i was invested in per say.

Very appealing, I received a graduate offer for london and the salary is miles above the competition with comparable or better perks in other fields too. was very happy to be receiving an offer and coming back

have already recommended to several people throughout the year, both friends and family and people at university that they apply as a placement at JP is one of the best that you can do. nothing bad to say at all really

Bournemouth is an medium to high cost of living area. rent appeared to be about 400-500 per month sharing a flat. i lived at home so can't overly comment, but outside of that it's a very reasonably priced place. 2 unis in the city so there's lots of socialising

bournemouth has 2 unis, and so there are lots of clubs, bars etc in the city which i was familiar with from already living in the area. a club of every kind to suit everyone

the only thing i can particularly think of was some volunteering opportunities through work, one of which was mandatory as an intern. apart from that i didn't particularly put myself out there to do anything so i can't comment much
