    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed working with my team. Learned new skills that i will be able to take forward for future job roles. The work was rewarding and it has been satisfying to know that the work i have done has contributed to the success of the company. Given the opportunity, i would not hesitate to come back to the company and i would happily work with the team i have already worked with, but i would also be open to exploring other areas of the business to broaden my understanding of the business processes.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • all my colleagues appreciate the work i have been doing and have valued the help i have given them with their tasks. They were open to my potential criticisms of the processes they have been using and were open to make changes where suitable. I never felt left out of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • my mentor and manager were able to find me work that best suited my skill set quickly and with enough of a brief on what was expected of me in order to have the task completed to an acceptable standard. The tasks given to me were also engaging and kept my interest in the various areas of the team high throughout my time here.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • some days i was able to work continuously throughout the day, the tasks given allowed for me to methodically work through them step by step and work at a consistent pace throughout these days. there were some days where there was less for me to occupy my time with, these were generally when i would be awaiting feedback from the teams customers on the work i had done and whether the solutions i had implemented were usable.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My responsibility was less than that of the rest of the team for very understandable reasons. there are many elements of the teams functions that must remain untouched unless by a select few people to ensure that these systems are able to run 24/7 without a human error getting in the way

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed skills in software development and programming in languages i had not used before. where i was using a tool i had used before (MATLAB), i was introduced to tasks that were not similar to ones i had done previously using the same tool and so i was able to broaden my skill set even with tools i was familiar with

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly atmosphere, i enjoyed working in a large open plan office with many tams operating within the same space. I liked that it wasnt just our team in one room all working together in a single space with no other teams around us. This made communicating to customers and suppliers very easy and allowed me to complete tasks more easily

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • we had set up a document detailing all the possible tasks team members may have for me to work on, varyng in technical requirements on myself and in their duration. I was then able to liaise with my mentor, manager and the team member proposing the task to decide if it was something i would be capable of doing and whether or not the team would benefit from me doing it

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If i was introduced to a new task that required using a tool i had never encountered before, the team would always be willing to teach me how to best use the tools so i could work more efficiently.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely come back to the company if the opportunity arose. my manager also feels this way

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • yes, many social events have been planned with great success. things such as go-karting and paintballing trips to name a few
