    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thought the internship was really well organised throughout. The residential trip before in the first week was a good way to meet other interns from all other offices and it was a fun, relaxed environment. I enjoyed working in the same team throughout the internship as I felt really comfortable and got to know the people well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I was trusted with important work to do and also felt able to go to the rest of the team to ask any questions. Given that I was with the same team for 5 weeks I felt like I got to know them well and they were happy to give me work to do. e

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt that every question I had was answered with all the information I needed and this really helped me learn a lot over the course of the internship. I had regular meetings with my Career Coach in which I could express any concerns I had or just to chat about the whole experience.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning I was not set much work as there wasn't much I could really do but throughout the 5 weeks I was trusted with more. It was down to me to ask for more work if I didn't have any which I think was a good thing to get you to be proactive.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At certain points I felt like I had more responsibility but I was always coached through whatever task I was doing and I would ask to make sure it was being done correctly. Given that we were working for the client, all of the work I was doing was important and had an impact .

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I strongly feel that I learnt skills that will be transferable across other jobs or areas of my life. My excel skills were developed, as well as my knowledge of other businesses and finance. My degree is unrelated to finance so it was a great opportunity to learn new skills and information.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I got on well with the other people in my team when we were on client site which meant that I felt very comfortable there. I also enjoyed when we were in the office and I had the chance to catch up with the other interns or see the general atmosphere in there.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The residential at the start was very well organised and a good opportunity to meet a lot of other people and learn some information which would be useful throughout the 6 weeks. The rest of it was also well organised with the clients and the work set whilst on client site.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm really look after you and make sure you have everything you need both in terms of information and laptops or phones. It is clear that they want you to succeed in the internship and enjoy the whole experience right from the start and throughout. It is a well organised internship.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • PwC would be a great company to be employed by as there is a lot of chance for growth within the company and a lot of other opportunities. There are accounting exams as well which can be done which would be beneficial in many different types of jobs or for other firms.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Whilst I was doing the internship there was the summer party organised for the penultimate week which was a really good chance to get to know people outside of the client site or the office in a different situation to the normal work setting. This was a good event to attend.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bristol can be expensive depending on where or how you live, if renting a room it can be reasonable. It is possible to find cheaper bars etc around the city and reasonable priced food given that it is a student area generally so they will tend to cater for that.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bristol is good for nightlife. Lots of different types of opportunities.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I did not get involved in many activities outside of work but I know of sporting clubs etc that could be joined. There are also drinks every month at the office which would be a good networking opportunity. During other times of the year there are other activities that can be done.
