    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Cutting-edge equipment enabling you to leverage it and make the most out of you time spent in the office. Thanks to these accessories you do not waste your time on struggling to deal with some issues / errors, in contrary you are able to focus on your tasks. All of this is especially precious in the era of computers.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Never have I worked in such a friendly and open-minded group. I have had a pleasure to work with extremely bright people. What I enjoyed the most was that they managed perfectly to keep balanced between atmosphere of focus (enabling you to work) and friendliness (enabling you to feel at home) so that you could be the best version of yourself.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given an outstanding support and guidance during my time in the firm. As a software engineer I especially appreciated it since I was able to pick up best practices, patterns and ideas. Working with experienced programmers was a great opportunity to develop new skills and grasp new skills.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I believe I experienced well-balanced workload, as an intern I was given fair amount of time to develop new skills (on my own, using variety of courses) not being obligated to work perpetually on given tasks. Never have I had to work overtime or encountered stressful atmosphere. Truly, perfectly balanced workload.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Having been an intern I was prepared to be given some daunting tasks. Thus I was enormously surprised and glad that tasks given to me were similar to the tasks given to other colleagues. Moreover, they were thought through so that I could leverage and learn from them which enabled me to develop myself.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a computer science student I am well aware that best way to develop is by practice, writing code, solving problems etc. Thus given tasks engaging me to do those skills I felt that I was broadening my horizons and developing new skills. Undeniably during my upcoming college projects I would will much more confident and I will find them easier.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • General atmosphere in the office was extremely friendly. Everyone was open-minded, open for discussion and willing to help. Nowadays one might expect some competition between the people, especially in big company, surprisingly nothing of this sort can be found in the firm. In contrary everyone works for a common good and literally loves collaboration in order to achieve best results.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Placement of the internship was thoughtfully organised. All interns were receiving regular emails regarding inside events as well as emails containing instructions / reminders of outstanding tasks so that one didn't worry about forgetting about the duties. Technically, the equipment and the environment was of the highest quality which made working there a pleasant experience.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I personally found this feature the most outstanding and extremely exploitable. The firm provided me with numerous and unlimited access to variety of online courses so that I was able to develop new skills and broaden my horizons. What is more the company did encourage everyone to leverage those courses to the maximum extend and invest in themselves.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Company offers plenty of employment opportunities. Starting with variety of positions. for instance software engineer might look for opportunities regarding front-end / back-end etc. all of these can be found there. Moreover as a huge international company with multiple entities there is a variety of possible places all over the world where one might possibly end up working.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Along with me there was a variety of people taking part in the internship. Everyone was open-minded, open for discussion and willing to help. Moreover there were plenty of occasions to socialise, bond and make new friends. Regarding work, to my mind everyone wanted to contribute for a common good and literally loved collaboration in order to achieve best results.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Poland and found it affordable. The flat rent was pretty cheap (about 1000zl). Going out / nightlife and socialising was in the reasonable prices as well. Summing up the expenses it turned out that food was the most expensive part - over 1000zl per month which is more than for the flat.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Warsaw - capital city of Poland offers plenty of extracurricular activities. First of all there is an amazing old-town were numerous events take place. Secondly Vistula river is going through the center of the city and thats were most of the social live takes place. Numerous bars, restaurants food-trucks and others attractions can be found there. For instance, BUW library.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. First of all there were plenty of additional social events organised by the firm in order to bond and make new connections. Secondly, additional courses enabling you to broaden your horizons were organized on daily basis. The last but not least was the charity event involving helping in the center for children suffering from the cancer which enabled everyone to contribute and get involved.
