I would highly recommend the Management Trainee Summer Internship to anyone who is thinking of applying! I have been able to develop my customer service and sales skills in such a short period of time. It is also great to see how your development helps the business.
I felt highly supported by my colleagues. Within my branch, I had placement students and graduates who would always be happy to help me and we would often learn together.
Most of the time I felt supported by management. In particular, my Assistant Manager was very helpful and was always open to me asking questions. I also had meetings with my Branch Manager reflecting on my development during my summer internship.
You are busy most of the time, if you aren't serving customers within the branch or on delivery then there is admin work to catch up on so you always feel on the go.
I was given a good amount of responsibility. Within the first couple of weeks, your manager will assign you your own responsibilities. In my branch, every employee had their own job and you had to make sure this was kept up to date and manage your own time on this duty. You also have to complete a project and this is your chance to take responsibility within your own branch.
I have had an insight into how a business operates and have developed transferable skills which I can take into any area of employment.
I worked in a very positive branch with a very welcoming team. If you have a bad day, the team always cheer you up. There were lots of competitions related to sales/service and this always added excitement within the branch.
I felt that the internship was very well organised. Right from the beginning, I knew what to expect my interviewer Raj was extremely helpful with the process and I really appreciated her help.
Enterprise have a good development path. They offer future opportunities once you have completed the internship. Whilst on the internship, I had a meeting with my manager who also explained how I can develop further whilst at the branch and later on in the company.
There are opportunities for future employment in the form of a graduate or placement year. When you have reached a certain level of management, you will also have a chance to move into different areas of the business, for example; HR.
Great chance to social outside of work. We went out for branch dinners/casual drinks and we also had an area night out which means you get to meet other employees working in branches close to you. It's great to have a chance to relax as a team.
London is expensive but as I study in London I was used to the cost of everything being high. Travel is affordable if you take the tube to work. Renting is expensive but I would recommend looking into university halls over the summer as the cost is slightly less.
Close to Central London so very easy access to the nightlife.
As mentioned above, we had the opportunity to go out for branch meals and also had an area night out.
