    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I learned a lot of new thinks, even if this was not my first internship. People were well-prepared, friendly and willing to share knowledge. The work you do is valuable, the culture of the firm is great and there are many learning and socializing opportunities. Also, in tech, there are flexible working hours and the environment is stress-free.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The supervisors were very helpful every time I asked for help. They would point me in the right direction from the beginning, even when I was unsure of what is the right next step. Even though people are busy with day to day work, they would always make some time to help others.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time, there was a right balance of working and attending events and training sessions. There were busy days and days when I had little work to do, but there were always thinks that you could read about and people that you could talk with to learn more about the firm and the tools used inside the company.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was the main developer on my project, therefore I was responsible for organizing my work efficiently and developing an application that is well organised, tested throughout and that delivers the expected outcome. However, I was able to discuss ideas with team members that also guided me in making the right decisions for the project, therefore I did not feel pressured, even if I had a great responsibility for m project.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The social skills developed here and the knowledge I gathered about communities that offer learning opportunities are extremely valuable. The coding knowledge is also applicable outside the firm, but dependable on the projects I will be working on. The way of thinking and organizing a project are skills that will definitely be useful in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In tech, it was stress-free, people were joking and communicating freely with each other. Colleagues would never make you feel inferior in any way and would gladly share knowledge and help you identify the best strategies and practices. Every person I talked with was well-prepared and passionate about their job.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were offered access to training sessions on both social and technical skills, meetings with teams all over the firm, access to networking groups and the events organised by them, the possibility of attending events and mentoring sessions with senior people, help in any area we needed. In terms of training and learning opportunities, I am pleased with the options available inside the firm.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Even though it was hard to organised an event where everyone could attend, we had a few socializing events organised outside of work and also we were meeting during working hours. People were eager to spend time with each other and get to know people. Some of us used to have breakfast together once a week and lunch almost everyday.

  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • This depends on the city and what are your preferences. There were many art related events such as exhibitions, concerts, musicals and theater plays around the area. There are many museums and touristic sites that can be visited. Also, there are many pubs and restaurants you can choose from and you can travel easily to places around the town. Overall, there are many opportunities, yo just have to find what suits you best.
