    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved the internship. The amount of responsibility that I was given in my department from the get go was great and I felt adequately supported above and beyond what I expected throughout the whole of my internship. The team was welcoming and treated me as a full employee, something that is rare in companies in my experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were very very welcoming at the start of my internship and helped me to settle in well to my team. I always knew that I could talk to my colleagues whether this be about personal or work issues and this proved to be invaluable throughout my internship overall

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management were helpful in ensuring that I had everything I needed in terms of technology and in terms fo knowledge to ensure that I could get started at my internship straight away. I was given enough independence by my managers and supervisors but if I ever needed any help, they were always on hand.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given real responsibility for a large project in my department which meant that I was always busy. Whether this be with meetings or communicating with people via phone or email, I was never short of tasks and I found it very enjoyable considering that I am someone who thrives when I am busy and I am a born communicator and to use these skills was very enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As previously mentioned, I was given lots of responsibility. I was surprised with how much responsibility I was given and I ever expected to be given as much as I was which was a really surprising thing about the internship. I was never left without tasks and I was trusted to get the required tasks done.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The amount of analytical and communication skills that I continued to develop throughout this internship will help me in my university studies and beyond. the main skills that I have learnt are the transferrable skills as typically the people who apply for this internship come from a finance background whereas I do not.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was nice and it was very casual and relaxed which was very different to what I expected, specifically with the dress code. Everyone in the office was happy to chat and would hold an conversation with you and was wanting to get to know you which was something that I didn't expect.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My internship was split into two halves. I very much enjoyed my placement, the first half specifically. the second half was also enjoyable but there was not as much work for me to complete in the second half and therefore I spent the majority of this time helping out in my first department as I had continuous projects going on that I could help out with.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested in me a lot considering the amount of time and effort that went into the onboarding process and making us as interns feel as part of the team and making us feel as a valued employee rather than a university intern. A bonus was that I have the possibility to return in the future.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am very much looking to the prospects of future employment within the organisation. The taster that I was given as an intern went above and beyond my expectations and I would be very happy to work here in the future given the opportunity. Overall, they are very appealing to me.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah there was a good social scene and the majority of the interns decided to stick together and form a group which chatted about work but also met up outside of work socially which was a nice aspect top the internship that I thought might not happen but went above my expectations again.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is undeniably high. Living in London and working just outside of it means that everything is high and socialising is spending extra money that we didn't necessarily have due to the high cost of accommodation in central London and t5he cost of transportation to the organisations headquarters.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I'm not very much one for nightlife but it is quite expensive as it is near London. Bars and clubs are not particularly my scene so I didn't really venture to look at these options but from what I have heard there are these kind of things but typically they are expensive to say the least.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I knew that there were quite a few activities that did go on outside of work however, considering where I lived and the amount of commute time that it took me to get in to the office in the morning and back from the office in the evening, I did not really investigate these fully.
