    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the internship because of a nice team and manager, other interns I got along with very well and the ability to move around the firm and see other areas. I disliked it because of the division I was placed.

  • I felt very valued by my manager who promoted my work and encouraged independence.

  • I did not need a lot of guidance from my supervisors, because my actual task was different from their expertise.

  • By week 8 I had completed my work and could not contribute effectively any longer.

  • I'm doing a physics degree and worked in compliance, not much overlap.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was lively, it was a bit too loud and a bit too impersonal and the general temperature affected the general atmosphere in a positive way by being not too warm and not too cold to effectively work in. I in general enjoyed the atmosphere around the office especially with interns.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship was not particularly well set up as I faced issues in the first week with access to the data that I required and the applications I required and the access to the floor I was working on and the starting gifts and the introduction day which I missed because of an exam.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm in general did not invest a lot of training and resources into the interns. Except for a basic excel training in the first week and a number of talks on various aspects of the company and other companies there was no specific training that I took part in during the internship.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment is appealing because of the increased salary and benefits and future employment is appealing because of a relatively engaging workplace and future employment is appealing because of a so and so atmosphere and future work is not an appealing option due to a number of organisational short comings in the company.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good to very good social scene amongst fellow placement students and other coworkers. With the other interns I went out a number of times after work for drinks which was usually a very fun activity and I spent lunch with the interns which was always a relief so not bad.
