    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • i really loved my time here but if i didnt have the other interns with me i feel this wouldnt have been so much the case although my team were great they didnt spend much time in the office so it wouldve been quite lonley if the other interns werent here. a downside was the 3.5/4 hour commuate every day

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • they helped a with any questions i had and helped me learn new skills such as how to create a pack or use excel within the business. i also helped support their work load so i felt trusted to carry out relevant work that actually supported the team at times

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • they were great- wanting you to suceed. frequent 121 with my line manger and good connections with heads of different areas. support was ensured through out from all staff members that i encoutered which was nice

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • was happy with how busy i was but wasnt pushed but this was probably to avoid stress or completing uncessary work as all the work i completed had a purpose and was useful for myself as well as the business. you can ask for more work which wouldve made me busier

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • compared to others who were a vitale role within their team and needed to get their work done every day or it was impacting customers. i got small chunks or work such as call listening that i needed to complete to support the team but i couldve been done with out

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • i developed excel skills throughout my time through joining excel skill sessions which will stand with me as i progress throughout my career. i have also had the opportunity to work on my interiew skills which will also be benefical. i have also developed the confidence in myself from listening and working with motivational people who havent let anything stop them to get where they want

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • very chilled- in terms of atmosphere and clothing as it is dress for your day which is something that shocked me as i thought working for a bank would be very professional and strict. everyone is up to chat and have good craic as long as the work is getting done

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • there was a lot of uncertainty throughout especially in terms of the grad scheme as it was not communicated well at all. in terms of travel expeneses this was confused throughout one person saying one thing the other saying another as well as tax codes. thankful for my line manager for providing a lot of info before i begun which was most helpful

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • specifically i didnt recieve training or development for specifically me- teams maybe need to remember we are unaware of how to create packs or use the business accroynums as they're so used to doing so, so should simplify and not expect us to be a natural and should explain every element

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have learnt a lot about myself as well as the business which has made me realise it would be a company I would love to be involved with in the future. It has been an interesting and an eye opening opportunity in which I have grabbed with two hands as I wanted to make the most of my short time here- which I feel I have. I have been able to learn new skills and ask questions to colleagues within my team as well as the wider team as everyone seems to be so willing to help you succeed.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Something that will stick with me as it was a big shock as I came from a business with five employees is I expected that all staff would just be a number in a big company but that is so far from the truth as everyone plays such an important part in the operation and running of the business with everyone being accountable. What makes this so impressing is the fact I was aware a lot of people are managed remotely so it is reassuring to know this has not impacted on the close knit community that is LBG.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • canteen on site was reasonable with wide choose. vending machines on every floor with usual shop prices. a small shop close with salad bar and hot food counter- can get everything for five pound or less but queues are very long so eat up a lot of your lunch time

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • after work it wasnt the norm to go to a bar after work like i had heard in london it was like. i never went out over the duration of my internship due to long days with early starts and other commitments so i am afraid i cant really comment on this from my experience not great but would be good if you got the chance to explore different clubs and pubs at the weekend for example

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • we were involved ina charity challange which enabled us to raise money for a worth while cause while team building with the other interns and having fun which is a stand out element for me as it really brought us all together and gave us ownerships over our own projects
