    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my work placement a lot, I liked the amount of responsibility I got and that I learnt how to do some financial modelling and also got to do my own financial modelling project where I then presented the output to the directors in my team. It was a very good learning experience

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my colleagues when I got positive feedback from tasks, especially if the tasks were hard and required a lot of time and thinking. I think it would help more if they were to always give feedback directly after our tasks so we can see if our work has really helped

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked independently quite a lot so wasn't given too much guidance throughout tasks. But if I needed guidance I would ask for it and people were happy to give it. People were good at briefing you about the bigger picture before giving you the task to do which was motivating.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy every day. I had a lot of work to do the whole way throughout the internship which was really good because then I got to learn a lot in a short amount of time. If I finished my work I would ask my staffer for more work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility varied with the different tasks I was given and the different people I worked with throughout my placement. Sometimes I was responsible for the whole task and sometimes I was responsible for parts of the task. It was good to have a mix of levels of responsibility

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the skills I developed and training I received will help me a lot later on, especially if I return as an analyst with the firm. I really improved by technical skills and overall corporate environment skills which are things that you only really learn from picking them up on the job

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office had a professional atmosphere where if you needed to ask a question people were happy to answer and help you out. The atmosphere was great for learning new things and getting a taste of what investment banking really is and what it actually entails you having to do

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects are very appealing in this firm because if I were to covert this internship I could start as a full time analyst and then progress in the bank to become an associate and then a director and then so on. Career progression is bery clear in the firm

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The firm is next to Shoreditch so the nightlife is very good, there are lots of cool bars and pubs and clubs etc.. It is also next to broadgate circle so this is a very good place to be on Friday evenings as it is always busy with lots of people
