Role Description

Investment Banking Intern

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

I enjoyed my work placement a lot, I liked the amount of responsibility I got and that I learnt how to do some financial modelling and also got to do my own financial modelling project where I then presented the output to the directors in my team. It was a very good learning experience

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

I felt valued by my colleagues when I got positive feedback from tasks, especially if the tasks were hard and required a lot of time and thinking. I think it would help more if they were to always give feedback directly after our tasks so we can see if our work has really helped

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

I worked independently quite a lot so wasn't given too much guidance throughout tasks. But if I needed guidance I would ask for it and people were happy to give it. People were good at briefing you about the bigger picture before giving you the task to do which was motivating.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

I was very busy every day. I had a lot of work to do the whole way throughout the internship which was really good because then I got to learn a lot in a short amount of time. If I finished my work I would ask my staffer for more work.

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

The responsibility varied with the different tasks I was given and the different people I worked with throughout my placement. Sometimes I was responsible for the whole task and sometimes I was responsible for parts of the task. It was good to have a mix of levels of responsibility

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

I think that the skills I developed and training I received will help me a lot later on, especially if I return as an analyst with the firm. I really improved by technical skills and overall corporate environment skills which are things that you only really learn from picking them up on the job
