The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience at Morgan Stanley and felt that I had developed my project management skills. Although, at times I felt the workload could be lighter, in order to fully digest the new projects I was participating in. Even though I learnt a lot, I could have gotten more out of the internship with more time for myself to absorb tasks.
I felt very valued by my colleagues and always felt that I was working in a team. I was frequently asked by my colleague how my work was progressing to see that I was on track.
I felt my managers guided me well through out the process and often contacted me in regards to the progress of my work. However, I sometimes felt that assume quite a lot of prior knowledge of each of the projects that I was on boarded on. This highlighted for me, the importance of asking questions.
I was in the office at on average from 9am to 1am. Sometimes I left at 9pm and once I had left at 5:30am.
I feel like I was given a bit too much responsibility. This caused me to stress too much about the output of the work and not focus on developing my knowledge further on things that I didn't fully understand.
From this job, I learnt project management skills the most. I am also much better with Powerpoint and developed some excel skills. I do not believe these skills will be too helpful for my education, but extremely useful for my later career. However, I would wish that there was more time to develop these skills throughout the internship.
The Company
The atmosphere of my office is very serious and high pressure up until 10pm. Then everyone kind of starts to goof around
The internship was set up extremely well. The on boarding process was extremely painless in terms of IT and financial education.
I felt that the company invested in me a lot, however they could have "gained more from their investment" by giving me more space to absorb my experience here
Future employment prospects in MS are very appealing to me and I see my self working here in the future
The Culture
Yes, the fellow inters are extremely nice and we get along very well
The cost of living was around 1k pounds a month and I barely used any money for socialising as most of my time I spent in the office
My team is was very dedicated to their work and did not go out many times
Yes, however there was the time to take advantage of these opportunities
