The Role
The internship is well organized and insightful. For the daily work we do, team has a book of work which has details on the projects and assignments every week. As a result, I felt l learned a great deal every week during a well planned process. Also,I felt I was valued greatly by my colleague who kept telling me my work helped them a lot and had great impact.
Everyone is so friendly and willing to talk to me even if they are really busy. During the internship, I had training and overview sessions with lots of people from inside and outside of my division. They always tried to provide as much information as they can to help me get a better understanding. They kept saying no question is a stupid question. In this way, i really learned a lot and they truly helped me build up my confidence.
My manager always gave me an overview before assigning projects to me. Even what I did was not that technical, my manager always tried to let me know the impact of my work in a bigger picture. This gave a a sense of a achievement and a better understanding of the reason and impact of my projects.
I would say I was always busy and sometimes I didn't even have time for lunch. My day was full of catch up, sessions, assignments and projects. However, I didn't really feel tired all the time. There were always something new to learn and I knew what I did helped my team so I wanted to try my best.
The assignments and projects did not carry very heavy responsibility and this is understandable. However, my projects always formed part of my managers' own current projects so I could see the impact in my work and what the current top topic was for the firm. My manager also let me work shadowed her meetings and calls.
The most important skills I developed is the communication and presentation skills in the work place and I think it will be valuable in the future. Also, I learned how to mange my time and expectation. Finally, I leaned lots of financial knowledge in practice which can definitely assist my economics degree.
The Company
A combination of being busy on the work and being relaxed and friendly with colleagues. Even though every one is extremely busy on their daily work, they are always willing to take time to help colleagues and have sessions with interns. Sometimes i asked my manager questions, she would always get back to me as soon as she finished her current work.
The overall internship is well organized. We have a great balance between the tasks in our own team and events organized by HR. Therefore, we can know lots of people outside our teams, collaborate with fellow interns and get to know different affinity networks. There were also talks with senior leadership.
I would say the company invested a great deal in me regarding to all the overview sessions, networking events, HR events and tasks within the team. All the people in the company are willing to help me to achieve more and support me as well as encourage me when i encountered difficulties.

The future employment prospects are appealing since the company is willing to invest in its people to achieve more. Also the reputation of the company is really good. Moreover, the learning curve within the firm is extremely steep so i can expect to lean lots of knowledge and developed lots of soft and technical skills in the future employment.
The Culture
There are networking events, HR training events, competitions where we can socialize with fellow students. Otherwise, we are sitting in our teams most of the time. From my perspective, the level of social events are reasonable. However, I think it would be better to organize more events within the same division to let us know more about other teams.
London is a really dynamic city and socializing is not a problem as long as you want to. People here are from different backgrounds and cultures, so we can really have eye-opening conversations and experiences. However, the cost of living is quite high here for a student in terms of public transportation and food.
I don't usually go to the bar or have after work drink. However, you can absolutely have as many as options you can image for Nightlife in London. There are lots of bars, restaurants, shopping areas and parks around. Every type of person can have a choice in the area.
There are lots of opportunities to get involvement. In the company, we have chance for community work and after work drink. Outside the company, we have the whole weekend to get involved in the activities we like. During the internship, we are not expected to work for a long time so we have a reasonable leaving time every day.
