    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship with JP Morgan. There were great opportunities to learn and develop my skills. Lots of events were organised for us interns - for example, Corporate Social Responsibility day, Senior Speaker Series and social events - which helped when getting to know other interns and colleagues.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my colleagues. I was in a team of 10 people and got on really well with everyone. Everyone was happy to help with my work as well as sharing what they do. The team gave up 30 minutes of their time to allow me to present my project and were all engaged and asking questions.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given great support by my manager. As well as this we all had a 'business liaison' which was a senior member of staff who also provided advice and support.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had 3 projects to complete over the 10 weeks, and so, was kept busy. However, I was interested in the work, and though challenging, it was really rewarding seeing the outcome of my work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the responsibility to manage my own projects. This included researching and contacting colleagues including those abroad. However, if ever I needed feedback or help this was easy to source from my team and manager.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My technical skills most definitely improved and will help me in any role in the future. This also helped me to build my CV. The knowledge I have acquired will also help me in my studies in final year.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was more relaxed than I had expected. Although everyone works hard, there is also time to chat and joke. This made work a more enjoyable place to be.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The program was very well organised. Before the internship began we were contacted with lots of information which helped to put my mind at ease beforehand. During the internship we had lots of events to attend as well as networking opportunities.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is an online portal which allows any employee including interns to complete a course on almost anything business/tech related. I found this to be a great resource to learn. As well as this all interns had an intensive Excel training course. I also completed Signavio training.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return to the company for the Grad Program. The rotational program sounds like a great way to experience even more of the company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we all got along well and saw each other outside of work. There are 80 interns so you're bound to make friends!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was above average.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was great!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are business resource groups such as for Pride or Women on The Move. As well as this there are sports teams and sporting events. I took part in a rowing competition for charity.
