    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work placement was incredibly enjoyable. Everything from the level of the work given to the level of responsibility that I had as an intern was great! Throughout the internship, I was encouraged to meet as many people as possible. This was appreciated, as it allowed me to be exposed to people from all ranks and divisions within the firm.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt incredibly valued by my work colleagues. As mentioned above, the level of work that was given to me really made me feel as part of the team rather than just being an 'intern'. My opinions were always asked and valued and I really appreciated the exposure throughout my time.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I enjoyed the fact that I was treated as a member of the team/as an analyst. This meant that, when work was set, I was not spoon-fed throughout the process of completing it. However, I do acknowledge the fact that my supervisors/managers always made themselves available to any query that I may have had. It was a great experience and one that I learnt a lot from.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Whenever work was set, it was clear from the onset what was expected of me. This ranges from the quality to the expected delivery date. This meant that, it was easy from me to organise my day accordingly to best suit the tasks at hand. Also, there was always something to do, which meant that the experience was never dull.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. The level of work that was given to me really made me feel as part of the team. In some projects, I was able to run the show and become somewhat of a subject matter expert. It was really fun to have people asking you questions on things only you know to such detail.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed will 100% help me. Everything from managing my time, workload and fellow peers/colleagues to managing stress and working under intense pressure are things that I have developed, which are sure to be skills for life; not just my degree. It was a great experience and one that I am sure that looking back, I will be happy that I completed it.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was great! No day was boring and everyone was up for a chat about things that were/are non-work-related. It was great as it allowed me to settle down and again feel as part of the team. The placement also included a lot of events which allowed me to meet other intern as well as other people who work at the firm.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship process was well organised. From cross-divisional events were other interns and workers could be meet to other events that allowed us to meet senior leadership the entire programme was great to be a part of. There are things that could be improved upon, but all in all it was a well run internship.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt incredibly invested in. The firm offers a range of training facilities, all of which can help to further my understanding of particular issues. Throughout my internship, I had access to all the same facilities that a full time employee would have access to and this just solidifies the aim of the firm to develop its people!

    5/5

  • The future employment prospects are incredibly appealing! I can see myself working within the firm for years to come. This is because, I feel that the prospects of progression are viable; the work is fast-paced, engaging and fun; the people are incredibly smart, helpful and ambitious, without being adversarial.
