The Role
Fantastic program offering a mix of learning opportunities, networking events, project work, and actual duties and responsibilities within assigned teams.
Felt as though I was one of the team. Everyone went out of their way to get to know me, teach me about the business, and help me along the way.
Excellent guidance and support provided from my direct manager, other team leaders, and the senior management within my department.
It varied to a certain extent. I was never overwhelmed or left with a work load that was too high. On the other hand there were days were I was left without a huge amount of work. This came after the training/introduction period but before I was really being given meaningful work. I guess that is to be expected in any job/organisation.
I was really pleased with being given some responsibility. I was assigned my own tasks but I always knew that if something unfamiliar came up, help was always readily available. this allowed me to add more responsibility as I learned more.
Very helpful, I had only high level knowledge of banking/financial services going into this placement I know feel I understand the industry at a much more detailed level. Also gained valuable technical and communication skills during my time here.
The Company
Really good. Everyone was genuinely interested in each others' social lives/what they got up to outside of work. Ensured there was always some fun discussion bouncing about the office. In addition to this there were several days/nights out organised with the team while I was here, made everyone closer and improved the team dynamic.
Really good, internship was really well structured, with a focus on broad, high level learning at the start, transitioning into picking up more specific skills later on. Lots of networking and learning sessions organised at regular intervals throughout the ten weeks that we were on the Goldman Sachs summer analyst program.
Company invested significant resources, the most valuable of which being their full time employee's time, in improving my knowledge and skills.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Healthcare/Dental
Although no offers have been handed out yet, I feel confident that I could receive a full time employment offer.
The Culture
Yes, but not as good as I found with my team of full time employees.
The city is about as expensive as it gets, but we were well compensated by the company which made it manageable.
Lots of bars and clubs near the office.
Yes the firm has a vast range of networks and societies for people to get involved in.
