    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship here. JP where very good at making everyone feel very included and supplied us with interesting projects for the summer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like the work I was doing was of value to everyone around me. Everyone was also very helpful.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was very helpful with any questions or issues i was having. We where also supplied with training to introduce us to working here.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day varied but the majority I was kept busy and working on my project.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given my own project of which I had full control on how it was developed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The general software practices and use of agile programming will help me greatly in the future.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Alright but most people tend to have earphones in and not really talking.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Lots of events organised in adavnce for during the internship. The first week was abit slow in setting up but from then onwards was great.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company supplied us with a lot of training to complete. This training aimed more at general banking though than the area we where involved in although resources such as pluralsight where supplied.

  • I would be interested in returning to J P Morgan.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of intern events where held ensuring everyone got to know eachother. Chats where also used so as we could talk.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Glasgow is a great city for socialising with loads of cheap places to go out.

  • Glasgow nightlife is class, loads of student and cheap nights out.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was loads of opportunities including GoKarting, Golfing ranges, dinners, drinks and more.
