    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time working at Hengistbury Head. I felt like my time spent there was highly productive and that i have learnt a lot over my six weeks of being there. I would even like to come back again at some point in the future and some more work at Hengistbury Head again.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were wonderful and a pleasure to work with over my six weeks. I never felt like I was being picked on or pushed to the side out of the way, everybody was very kind and welcoming towards me and hopefully they thought the same of about me as well.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was giving plenty of support and guidance by my supervisors and I never felt like I did not know what I was meant to do, and if I had any questions they were very happy to answer and help me. The tasks and guidance given every day was also very clear.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy my days were varied from day to day depending on what needed to be done and also depending upon the weather. Every day felt busy though and I never felt like I was sat around doing nothing for no reason. The range of tasks which I covered over my six week was variety so therefore every day was different and interesting.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt like I was given the correct amount of responsibility and that i was not given too much or too little. At the start i had less responsibility as I was still being shown stuff and learning the site, but near the end I felt like I was given more responsibility for example animal checks etc with out the help of supervisors.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a lot over my time at Hengistbury Head and I believe that these skills will be useful for me when I try and apply for jobs in the future. Some of the best skills I gained here would have to be learning how to use the brush cutter and also how to carry out animal checks.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was always very welcoming and nice. It never felt dull and I always felt happy there and never out of place or unwanted. There was also a good supply of tea, coffee and biscuits as well so I always felt well looked after as well.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt like the whole placement was organised and handled really well. The way it all was ran was very smooth and I never felt like I was just getting in the way. The way I was shown and trained how to do stuff was all done very well and carried out brilliantly.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was trained how to handled and use a brush cutter which I was not expecting to learn how to use, so in my opinion it was brilliant and incredibly useful for me as it has added another skill I can use in the future to further help me in my career.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I really enjoy the type of job I was carrying out and a career within this sector would be really appealing for me. Being at Hengistbury Head over the last six weeks has really help me figure out what I would like to do in the future and helped me decided whether this career direction is good for me.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene with the over placement students was brilliant and I have really enjoyed spending my time around them and getting to know them better over the six weeks. Being with other people my age and doing similar degrees was really good fun and made my time at Hengistbury Head even more fun.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The costs for me would have been in my commute to my work placement everyday as I had to catch the train, which unfortunately was not very cheap over the course of my six week placement. But that is down to the train service and has in my believe not effect my time or opinion of how my work placement has gone.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • This question does not really apply to my work placement as I was not living in the area near where I was doing my work placement so therefore never had a chance or bothered to go out and see if there is a nightlife or not in the area nearby.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Again as the question above this does not apply to me as I was not near to where the work placement was, I suppose there was the possibility of signing up for some of the beach cleans down in Bournemouth but that is not linked to my work placement and so does not really apply to the question.
