    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My internship at Willis towers Watson was very enjoyable. I constantly had things to do and it was very easy to get more work if you are not very busy or less work if you're too busy. The work I have done has been very varied and I haven't found myself being bored at all.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues at Willis Towers Watson made me feel vary valued over the time of my internship. I was really part of the team in the projects I did and I was given real work to do that is used in the final product. They really make an effort here to make sure you see the end result of the work you've helped with.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The levels of support I received during my internship were great. If i ever felt like there was something i was unsure about or any questions I had I could always go to my line managers and they were always both happy to help and give suggestions of their own.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy you are during this internship at Willis Towers Watson really depends on you. You will be assigned work on a daily basis, some weeks are busier than others. A few times I did get to a stage where I had no work to do, but if you ask then there's always more things people are willing to give you.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think during any internship the interns never get given a huge amount of responsibility for obvious reasons. That said however, the work that I have done has been used and, once checked a few times, has been sent out to clients, so not loads of responsibility but, for an internship, a decent amount.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I have developed will most certainly help me in my future as I'd like a career in the industry that my internship is in - I definitely feel like I will get a head start when I begin as a graduate. The training has also been useful (e.g. data protection training) for the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the WTW office has been amazing. Everyone here is really nice and friendly and very easy to talk to. I haven't met anyone here who I wouldn't want to/ would find intimidating to talk to, even the more senior members here. Overall really good atmosphere and very positive feeling.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship here at WTW was set up and organised very well. It is easy to see they have been running this program for a number of years and they have things set up very well. You begin with mainly training sessions and meetings and then progress on to do more work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I found that the company invested in me and the other interns a really good amount. We were offered several training sessions on the industry we were working in, as well as really good opportunities to have a look at the kid of revision we would be doing before the exams.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects within the organisation are really good. At the end of the internship, you will have an end of internship review where they let you know if you've been suggested for a graduate roll for the following September. If you work well here you've got a good chance of getting the job.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene in this office is really nice and relaxed. We were invited to a number of socials, as well as being given the opportunity to organize one of our own. The socials that we did go to were really fun and always very well organized (and often fully paid for).

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in the area I work in is relatively expensive but it really depends on where you go. If you don't mind commuting into work it can actually be really cheap, but if you'd rather get somewhere close to the office the prices can rise a bit. Socializing is quite the same - in the city is a bit expensive but a little further out is fine.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in the area I worked was brilliant. There's loads of clubs and bars and places to go for a drink near the office, as well as non alcohol related things too. I never found myself getting bored at night and always had places to go out to with my friends.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Considering I was only here for 8 weeks, I didn't really see many opportunities to get involved in outside of work activities. That said though, from other colleagues I have spoken to in the office, it seems like there are quite a lot of outside of office activities to be involved in when you start properly working here.
