    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly. Everybody I have met inc. the people on my team are genuinely nice people and we have a good laugh at work as well as working hard.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Extremely. As soon as I passed competency and could be trusted on real cases, I was expected to work as part of the team. I worked on cases independently and occasionally was asked to help somebody on a case which shows they trusted me to do a good job.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My team leader kindly made a schedule for me on my first day which helped me settle in as I always knew where I should be. However, if I felt like I was given too much time in one department, or too little in another, I felt very comfortable being honest and adjusting the schedule.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Our team constantly have cases to be working on which get sent in from branch on a daily basis. I always have something to do although it never gets too much as the team are very effective at working together and dividing workload. If I felt like a case was going to take me longer than average, one of my team would be more than willing to help.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Full responsibility. I am treated no differently to anybody else on our team. I am trusted with my own cases which get sent to our group inbox.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working a 9-5 office job will help me in my final year of uni as I will treat study time in the library as any other job. Beyond my degree - I have improved my team working skills through collaborating on cases. Also, I have improved my communication through various meetings I have had throughout my time here - with people from my team, other teams, team leaders etc.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is a great working environment here as people know that they need to get on with their work but if you fancy a catch up with somebody, that is totally fine - almost encouraged. The different teams on our floor all coordinate with each other and it is a great environment to communicate as you can go over to someones desk to ask them something - instead of waiting for their email response.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. We had an important induction day which was useful to get to know the other interns. The HR team clearly set out important dates for us to remember. They allocated us into the teams which most needed staff. Then I was given a schedule by my team leader however after 2 weeks of training I was then just one of the team.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We spent at least the first week doing online development training. After this, over the next week or 2, I shadowed probably more than 10 people who were happy to spend time with me. If at any point I wanted to learn about something else, I could easily arrange it.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very. I have been lucky enough to be placed in financial crime which I have found an interest in. After I graduate I will be looking to find a permanent job here.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes really good. I've made friends with people I work with. Also, I enjoyed socializing at a couple of the nights out put on my the sports and social committee. These were a good chance to socialize in a more relaxed environment and speak to people I wouldn't do inside the office.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • City centre of Manchester - tesco is very close for snacks, drinks and sandwiches. The area around oxford road has many places to eat. Not too expensive. McDonald's, subway, Greggs, KFC round the corner.
