    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was very enjoyable as I got to see the work at the company and even join in some of the tasks that they did over there. Furthermore, it was nice to meet the employees and talk to them further about what they are precisely involved in with the company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I did not feel incredibly valued during my time there. Though I occasssionally got involved with the tasks they were doing and they valued my input, I mainly sat on the side and made notes on what they were doing. It would have been nicer if I was able to get involved closer in more tasks.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance and support during the insight. During my time there, it was clear that the employees were very supportive and helped me with all the tasks, providing me with a lot of extra information to help me in the future, as well as offering me long-term advice.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed will provide me a greater understanding of the tech world which will help me a lot going through my degree. Also, on software projects in university, I can apply the cycle I learnt on the insight to such. Beyond this, it will help me in finding a job in technology.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured as each week, the employees focused on different tasks and this allowed me to see a wide variety of tasks and this therefore got me to see the different activities that would happen at the company because each task required different kinds of activities to be done.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very fun and friendly throughout the whole insight. The employees were very welcoming so it was easy to make friends with them and talk to them, making it easier to approach them and thus easier to learn when working there. It was also nice to talk to them about other things.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that in terms of personal training and development, the company invested a lot in me. They gave me lots of information and they also gave me long-term information about cycles in development as well as advice for the future. It also helped to develop my communication skills.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight somewhat helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. Although I only got a few opportunities to join them on their tasks, I mainly got to witness the tasks so I got a good grasp of what they were doing.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight did help me to understand company culture a lot as it made me realise how they are not only interested in profit but also to make software as an escapist reality for some; they know their job has a wider impact and this motivates them to do the best as possible.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day was quite valuable in helping decide on my future career path. It made me consider all the different types of jobs I could have to do with technology and has opened my eyes to these. This insight has really made me interested in pursuing such a job.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for my time there which was very nice as it made me feel valued as I was given something back for the effort that I put in. I was also reimbursed expenses for my travel costs and lunch costs which meant I did not have to worry about expenses which was nice.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities for meeting other employees of the company. During the work day, I got to go around and watch all the other employees and work with all of them. I then got to talk to them on breaks as well and this was quite relieving as we could talk about other things.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities were really good for me as there was a perfect balance of fun and learning. I got to learn from them during the work day and I also got to have fun with them in socialising and talking about our interests. Also, the social events were quite fun as I got to learn more about them.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I did not really find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. This is because I mainly found out about more work-oriented activities that they got involved in such as speeches and also meetings at other offices to discuss technology on a wider scale.

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend this insight if you are very interested in working in a technology company. However, if you are not fully committed, it may not be for you as it can get quite boring sitting on the side and watching. If you are very committed, this should be no problem at all.
