    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. I went into the placement with no expectations at all and left it with so much experience, a great group of friends and colleagues that I work with and a very enjoyable year of work experience. Golfbreaks is such a great company not only my team I worked with but the whole company makes your time as a student extremely fun along side the experience you gain.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I went in with no knowledge or training about what I was going to be doing as a job, I was trained from the beginning and by the end my input and work was used in large projects and valued by the company. I wasn't just a placement student I was seen as a full time employee and my input was always wanted

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance I was given was fantastic. From my beginner training at the start of the year to the more advance training at the latter end of the year, I was always shown and guided through what I had to do. I never felt like what I was asking was a burden and was always shown how to do it and also how to find out the information myself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning of my placement as I was new and learning there were a few days where I wouldn't have a large amount to do but this was only because I was capable to do these things yet. As I became more experienced I was given larger work loads and even on the days where there was a lot of work and it was stressful I was always reminded it was okay if I didn't finish everything and even came to enjoy the stressful days.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given so much responsibility and I loved it. I was running the first line and my team were happy enough to just let me run first line and give them updates when and if they needed it. I was given responsibility in larger pieces of work and again the team were happy to let me do this and enjoyed and encouraged my input. They allowed me to sit in, in interviews and help conduct the new placement students search. I was also given the responsibility to train newer members of the team and overall loved it.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My job is very specific so minor technical skills that would help me in my job were gained. However the skills I developed for a 'working' environment were great. I became a lot more organised and learnt how to deal with stressful situations and learnt a lot that I can use for my timings and ability to finish my uni degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is great. The company is such a friendly and welcoming company and you're made to feel like part of a big team instantly. There's perks and work events and everyone takes part. It's such a fun company to work for and every member of the company will say this and it also shows with the amount of people who have been here for such a long time

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The company side of setting up the placement was incredible. There were no glitches, they take on a large amount of placements each year and are used to doing this so everything is seamless. All information and pre placement days are set up, you are even put in contact prior to starting the job with the other placement starters so you can create a bond straight away.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • So much, I had my bi weekly one to one meetings with my manager to make sure I was on track and picking up and learning the skills I needed while also ensuring the things I was lacking in were spoke about. They put me on for exams so I could get the certification for my job as well to help in the future. They invested so much in me to make sure that I was always developing and learning about myself within the job

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a full time job with the company when I finish Uni and have already been given all the details about it. Each year the company will bring back about a quarter of the placement students they take on and these are normally offered out at the big company event in November however my team has already asked me to come back.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The company has a few large events for you in the year that are all paid for and great fun, this includes travel away and stays in a hotel. We then also as a company have lots of nights out and everyone comes together ona night out. So many placement students also move to live near the placement so theres often social events within the placement student group

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As the company is based in Windsor it is quite expensive. There are a few cheap places to socialise that the company always ends up at but the living expenses of the are are not the cheapest. Car parking if you travel in is expensive as well as the rent and are around being quite expensive

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are numerous bars, clubs and a great scene around the area that the company is based, so many people in the company spend the Friday evenings down the pub with each other. Along with that there's numerous amounts of places to eat and our teams constantly organizing nights out in.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were water sport events, fantasy football leagues set up, golf events, football, cricket events. Lots of the time there are things to do outside of work involving the company. The area as well just offers lots of possibilities for things that you can do outside of work and you can find many reasonably priced.
