    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was an enjoyable experience. Lasting 6 weeks and working with a variety of clients meant that I got a good breadth of experience. I am glad that I have got the experience after completing the programme and it has given me a clearer idea of what I want to do once graduating from university.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of colleagues I worked with made me feel welcome and were able to answer any questions I had about the programme or the work I was doing. Certain individuals were not quite as welcoming and were under the assumption that I would have a much greater prior knowledge than I did.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As part of the programme we were given a counsellor. These counsellors were extremely helpful and I would go to them whenever I had a query, with confidence they would help me out. I think the idea of giving someone an individual to go to with any queries is great.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the majority of the time on the programme I was very busy and constantly had work to do. Rarely did I have time on client site where I was not doing work. However on some occasions when based in the office I was slightly more quiet with regard to work load.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During the placement I was given a range of responsibilities and often felt like I was valued and not patronised. The level of responsibility varied based on the job I was working on and the location in which I was working I thought this was positive as it meant I was not constantly under pressure.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would say that the skills and training I received were useful for the job at hand but were not as useful for my degree as this is fairly unrelated to what jobs I was working on. If I had been doing a different degree then I may have found the work more relatable.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I thought the general atmosphere in the office was positive and sociable. This was great when joining the office as it meant everyone was extremely welcoming and open. Any questions I had were answered and I never felt nervous when approaching anyone whether they were a partner or an associate.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the organisation was done very well for the majority of the time on the internship. On some occasions I was left with little work to do and therefore had to reach out to people on other jobs in order to get additional work, this is the only thing I would change.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I thought that the company were investing in us through time and money on this internship. I didn’t ever feel as if we were only there for a short while so other people’s time were not wasted on us. It was a great experience and the other interns felt the same.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for this organisation in the future and would be extremely grateful if I were to receive an offer from the company. The people I worked with for the most part provided a sociable and welcoming environment in which I would love to work as part of in the future.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene in the office was great and I was invited to come out for drinking socials on several occasions. The atmosphere was welcoming and very sociable which I enjoyed very much. The other interns in the office agreed with this and enjoyed the sociable atmosphere around the office.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
