    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship very much, everyone is so friendly. I have made friends with interns and staff across different service lines and felt supported by everyone I met. I am glad I joined this internship because it let me know what I want to do and don't want to do in my future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, all of them are so friendly and open to any questions. They are people you can joke with and also will take responsibility during their work. My team would go out for coffee and have lunch together at client's site. They also organised a goodbye lunch for us at the end.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The manager is busy but always open to questions and you can book coffee chats with them. Everyone in the team is always busy but will always put their work down for 5,10 mins to teach you how to do your work. If you don't have enough work, they are always happy for you to join and help them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There are busy days and also relaxed days. Summer is not busy season for Assurance so overall we were not too busy. There is always more work to do if you ask and other teams might ask you for help as well if you offer so overall we had plenty to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the day I joined the team, I was given real client work, by the end of the week, I was communicating with the client by myself. The team trusts the interns and are willing to take us to very important meetings and talk to very senior staff on the client's side.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Most of the skills were learnt on the job. EY offered training days at the beginning and there is also Web learning platform to learn more about your service line and other service lines. The knowledge developed will not be very helpful for my degree but definitely will be in my future career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is great, there are times where everyone is serious and also times where people just joke around. The people might feel intimidating at first but if you have the courage to talk to them, they are honestly all so friendly and honest. Would not find another office with this kind of atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We were given contact with a buddy and a counsellor. Also we were placed in a team, my team did not have my buddy or counsellor which meant everyone in the team became my buddy. The HR are always contactable by email although they might not be so helpful as they are not aware of situations in each service line.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The HR heavily discourages swapping to another service line for grad scheme but it is done on a one to one basis. A lot of the interns will be offered grad jobs and people inside the company is able to move up in position very quickly. Once you get the qualification, the swaps within company will be much easier.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf is expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf has a lot of restaurants and pubs but it is more business than nightlife.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
