    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great, was exposed to a wide range of tasks: allowing me to get experience in many different tasks. Team was amazing, treated me like a permanent employee rather than an intern. The placement overall met my expectations and I will strongly consider coming back if I have the opportunity to do so

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Highly valued. I had the opportunity of working with a wide range of colleagues all the way from graduate level to senior manager and partner level. The team was very welcoming and was always on hand to be able to help with any concerns about the work or any general concerns.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Was assigned a counsellor and a buddy who were both very helpful and made the experience a lot more organised. Had regular meetings with counsellor and other senior members. The whole team was always approachable and happy to answer any questions which made it feel very inclusive and led to a positive team dynamic

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The start was quite quiet; allowing me time to adjust to the work , learning the very basics and just getting used to working in an office environment. However there were also times where there was lots of work to be done, however at no point did I feel there was too much or too little work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Had reasonable amount of responsibility. I was given my own tasks which contributed to real life engagements. We also had intern projects with little direct input from the grads or other senior members. That was a big responsibility as we were responsible for the creation and delivery of the presentation

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much. Since it's the final year of uni, dissertation will be very time consuming. Working in this role has got me into a routine which will make me more productive, also communication skills which were developed through working with various levels of the organisation and also a diverse range of clients

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun and vibrant. The team were so relaxed and welcoming. I was expecting it to be more corporate and dull. We had frequent team lunches , the office was always alive in that people were always having conversations in the office space, no one felt left out and overall very positive.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well. We were assigned a buddy and counsellor who made the process seamless. We never felt confused or left out. Buddy was always on hand to help and guide me. SIP team were also good, they kept in touch to see it everything was good and any concerns could be raised with them

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Had the opportunity to travel to many different places for quality days, client work, team developing days etc which were really useful. Felt that they invested highly to make sure that I got what I wanted from the experience. Also there were training courses which I highly valued and recommend

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Definitely will come back if offered a position. I really like the organisations dynamics and openness. The grads also feel they are happy in their jobs. The recruitment team are very responsive and helpful. At EY you can be yourself and that's what I like most. So will definitely consider coming back

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Many social events which were very generous allowing me to connect with colleagues and build relationships in a relaxed environment (not that the office is not relaxed). Also had the fundraising challenge which allowed me to connect with interns from other service lines that I wouldn't have had the chance to work directly with.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living at home. This made it a lot easier. When travelling ey funded the trips and had a generous reimbursement policy. The costs of living were therefore quite low which made it easy. For those living away from home it wont be as expensive due to the central location of the office.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great . Vibrant culture since glasgow is so diverse. There are so many things to do with the unis being so close which opens up many options. There is so much choice in venues and most places are quite nice. Overall quite enjoyable and especially great since transport links are good

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes we had the EY foundation event in london which was a great experience. There were not as many opportunities however since it was only a 6 week internship theres not much time for us to do so. As a full time colleague they definitely have more chances of doing so.
